User Feedback: This Campaign Slogfest Isn’t It Anymore

Hello,

If GGG thinks players will enjoy playing this slogfest campaign every new league, then they are clearly wrong. No one will enjoy this slogfest. Gamers now are not your gamers from 10 years ago. They have families, they have kids, they have jobs, and they have lives.

It’s just exhausting. You can’t help but wonder how anyone is expected to go through all these acts from scratch every single league. It kills the hype right out the gate. The early excitement fades fast when you realize you’re back to dragging yourself through the same campaign you’ve already done dozens of times.

If the devs want to keep new players interested and returning players excited, they really need to rethink how progression starts each league.

Sincerely,
User.

I can't believe the game got this much worse after 0.1.0

How did this happen? Who is telling the devs to nerf everything into oblivion? None of it makes sense because no one asked for it
Campaign was fun the first time, but it def isnt fun to do every season.

So stick to mobile games. I don't see the issue like you expect this game every catered to you when there already are games for you.
If they want players to go through the campaign every new league them they should've made the campaign less linear, no one cares if it doesn't make sense lore wise, just make it more interesting and dynamic

People want fun and meaningful combat. Everything else is secondary to it. This patch failed to deliver on the combat front (including bad loot drops), so here we are I guess. Hopefully things will improve in the next few months. I haven't lost all hope because of GGG's quick responses and willingness to engage in deep discussion with the community, but I won't play the game in it's current state
Agreed the campaign can be not always fun to play. I think they’re on the right path with recent Act 3 changes, they just need to keep going down it.

1) continue making some of the more massive maps smaller (in ALL acts)

2) LET US KNOW WHEN WERE CLOSE TO A FREAKING OBJECTIVE. Don’t let us wander 2 meters too far from a checkpoint and spend an extra 10 mins per map searching. When we get within a certain distance of a checkpoint we should get some kind of visualization that we’re close and the general direction the checkpoint is in.

I think #2 would actually make a pretty massive difference to the slow feeling of the campaign.
What's funny is how they copied Diablo II ONE-FOR-ONE and still screwed it up. The 3 acts we have are acts 1-3 of D2.

Freeing the Hooded Man is freeing Deckard Cain.

Recreating the horn is recreating the horadric staff.

The beast is Diablo who is growing stronger as you chase him.

but Diablo II's campaign is both rushable (quite literally, with movement skills) and repeatable (much more fun to do on new ladder resets) because it's perfectly paced. It takes as long as you would expect as a player. besides act 3, which can be sloggy, PoE2 made every act feel like act 3 of D2 but worse

I agree about 2, and also sometimes the checkpoints disappear from the mini map for some reason and thats really frustrating, like you know there was a checkpoint nearby but now it's gone from the map and you have to either portal out or backtrack to get to where you need to be
I'm done with 0.2! This is the worst I've ever seen from GGG. It's not fun at all.
