Message to Devs: Patch 0.2 (Positive)
|
Hello,
Amongst the tidal9 wave of negative feedback I want you guys to know that I, and my friend group, loved the original iteration of patch 0.2. I have played Diablo 2-4, Wolcen, PoE1, Victor Vran, Grim Dawn, and Last Epoc. I can say that for me personally the difficulty was on point and we loved the fact that fast mobs forced us to think on our toes or face the consequences. I understand that everyone plays at a different level and that it may have been too difficult for the majority of players that you have gotten feedback from. I also understand that it's your goal to look at the extremes of any argument and try to make a perfect middle ground for all players to enjoy. I just want to make sure that you know that there is also a less bombastic portion of the player base that actually liked everything about .2. I am not one to make a forum post, but I feel like it is necessary because I love your game so much. Please know that you will always have a portion of the player base that follow and appreciate the vision of the game that you have. Last bumped on Apr 11, 2025, 6:09:39 PM

" I am very disappointed by how easily GGG caved and simply issued the crybabies the complete blanket list of wishes granted. At this rate we are going to end up with a videogame designed by Reddit, rather than a game by GGG. Artwork cannot be produced by a committee or a community vote, tryin to please everyone never works. If Johnathan wants to capture the hardcore gamer audience he needs to put his foot down and say "No, this is how it's going to be". From Software never bent to the crybabies demanding an easy mode and became world renowned for it, they had the vision and they delivered it, it worked. POE 2 has many new and great ideas "What if the campaign was a real videogame and not just 5 hours of running with flame dash and shield crash?" never backtrack on it. GGG have already made one game with a 5 hour long loading screen and everybody hates it. Don't repeat the mistakes of POE 1. Last edited by Cpt_Katawa#5469 on Apr 11, 2025, 4:52:36 PM

" You're disappointed that GGG listened to their community and made some good changes after a horrendous patch. If you fail to understand why many are frustrated at the games state right now, just wait and see what happens these next few weeks to poe2's player base. Time will tell |

You gotta understand that every player is selfish and considers those who have different takes beneath him. There is a reason every post which defends the vanilla 0.2 "vision" is condescending. Well, in the end they lost, so being condescending is all they can do I guess

" They made the bad changes, the game is worse than before. If they do it again POE2 will become Vampire Survivors 2. What's the point of fighting the mobs if they aren't threatening you? What's the point of fighting if it's not fun? Hell what's the point of playing an easy game? |

This situation is very bad, because GGG marketing is too reliant in streamers so streamers have too much influence. The majority of them wants to play POE 2 like they play POE 1.
Maybe after 3.26 community will calm down, but there is a world which they will never accept POE 2 envisioned by the devs. |

" I think everyone actually feels the same about that, especially the devs. We all want a game that is challenging and rewarding, not challenging and punishing. We are currently in a challenging and punishing stage. That's where lots of folks are misunderstanding one another on both sides of the isle. That's where a lot of hate the game is getting is coming from. When a game does not reward you with enough crafting and gear to continue progressing, it doesn't make you feel stronger the higher level you get, and it doesn't give you materials or strength even when you're done with the campaign - it becomes a dull chore you've forced yourself to endure with no end in sight. I just want to feel powerful the more work I put in, and actually receive cool rewards for defeating difficult monsters/scenarios. SSF feels like omega HC without rewards right now which is why I'm stepping away Last edited by SpaceFoxyFū#3839 on Apr 11, 2025, 5:29:49 PM

" POE 2 just needs the new streamers. The old guys aren't the only people with web cams in the world. Some of the dumbest takes and opinions came out of those old and respected veterans who are just too stuck in the old videogame they refuse to look at and learn the new game. For example a very loudly voiced opinion "Gemcutting system is bad because you can't fix a bad build by grinding the gem XP" Dude... Imagine looking at gold respec, uncut gems, uncut supports and thinking that you need to grind XP while you could simply fix your build instead? Those people are simply failing to adapt to the new system, so stuck in the world of regret orbs and chest sockets it doesn't even occur to them that they can simply use another skill, or even do a full respec, they want to grind instead. |

" Dark Souls was described as "Punishing" because one mistake would force you to re-run the entire level from start. Since then even From Software themselves pivoted away from that design and paced the checkpoints everywhere. POE2's campaign doesn't have any punishments, literally nothing is taken away from you, if a werewolf kills you just respawn right there and try again. And when it comes to the rewards - my latest character looted 4 raw exalts right from the floor in Act 1. You don't expect 4 chaos orbs in Act1 of POE1, the raw currency drops are straight up higher than in POE1. The lategame changes are all good, allowing the players to chose their difficulty with portals into the maps is good design, I'm not complaining about that, but sweeping nerfs to the campaign mobs were entirely unneeded. |

" We can agree to disagree then. My experience was nothing like you're explaining, and I play SSF. The loot is next to none, the power scaling of players to monsters is next to none - you get the idea. I refuse to replay the same sluggish game to only feel powerful every once in a long while among so many hours of gameplay. The replay-ability is not there. No way would I sign up for another few seasons of this, not even one more. |
