Act 3 small core won't activate entry if Alva is not in her right place

I was playing campaign act 6 in the Jiquani map. Alva's animation in investigating the device before the door was interrupted when monsters started attacking me.

When I finally got the small core, i tried to activate the device and couldn't get the trigger to open the door. I had to reset the instance.
