Essences Bricked By Tablets?

So with the changes to Essences I decided to try and farm them this patch. My journey to endgame has been a little slow but I finally got some Atlas points invested into Essences on the tree. I found a few Precursor Tablets with inc Essence chance and got some good tower overlaps so I had some maps with %350 chance for Essence monsters.

I found that every single map I ran with those tablets affecting them would have ZERO Essence monster, however I would find Essence monsters in maps not affected by them, still a low amount for the baseline %260 chance i got from the tree...

My theory is that for some reason... Essence Tablets are actually bricking my chances of finding them. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Am I missing something or is this bugged? Hopefully GGG can fix if so.
