Herald of Blood requiring a Martial Weapon?

Herald of Blood is a new way to scale and improve Bleed based builds. I am attempting to build a Bleeding Blood-Witch which has great synergy with High Physical Damage Spells and Bloodloss benefits.

I was going to utilize Herald of Blood with this, but Upon reading the description, I noticed that it was also grouped with the other Heralds of requiring a Martial weapon.

This to me makes little sense as the other Heralds DO require Attack style damage to proc and work. Herald of Blood however, does not require Attacks from martial weapons and instead just works on bleeding enemies.

Any chance we can have Herald of Blood non-weapon specific so Bleed Builds on Spell-Casters and Blood-Mage can be used with?

This also may be unintended and bugged so please advise.

Thanks,

+1, I really want to be able to make use of BLOOD mage for BLOOD abilities :(

Blood mage already feels pretty rough to play so allowing herald of blood for physical spells at the very least would begin to bring the blood mage in line with other builds
Considering how awful physical spells are and sanguimancy is beyond terrible, I do not understand how they put the limitation of a melee weapon to the herald of blood and only to this herald. The requirements of dex and str are already high enough for a witch.
I see the huntress cleaning the map carrying scepters and the herald of lighting, like they are the spell casters.
A blood mage should see gorgeous explosions of blood and taint the blood in red. Not these red bubbles.

You should ask instead why ALL heralds require martial weapons.
Spells don't have any cool on-death effects whatsoever, why?
