Geonor's mechanics need to be more telegraphed
And less AOE. And also not able to out right freeze us the first time an ice blast hits us. That makes us not able to get out of a second ice blast, or whatever they're called.

Do you have character dialogue on? He has a voice prompt for every single attack. Couldn't be more telegraphed

Geonor patern is telegraphed fine enough there's way crazier mob. My personal nemesis is the Big monkey, the one from act3 BUT in maps :D keep one shooting me, he is easy for most build tho but for thorn he is a threat, the moment i see this is the hit i need to void and not to happily tank i'm dead :D
and sry was just looking to vent my hate of the big ape :P Last edited by BigBeuss#5956 on Apr 10, 2025, 8:59:44 PM

Funny how everyone is all listen to audio, when you are not even talking about his smoke phase. His ice rain attack is a bit over tuned, maxing out your cold res only allows you to be hit ONE extra time then you are frozen, halving the number of projectiles would do wonders for that particular move of his, which also happens to be my leading cause of death while fighting him

The more I fight Geonor the more I love this boss fight. Possibly the best boss fight ever. The mechanics are very well telegraphed and easy to avoid. You just need to learn the mechanics.
At the beginning of the battle: - When he dashed at a wall with his sword he will always swing it afterwards taking up half of the arena where you are fighting him. Always remember to stand clear of that. - You can easily dodge, block or parry his basic sword attacks. - When he throws up the two ice walls just dodge out before he throws the ice When he turns into a wolf - When he disappears going up he will flash red for a second. That will always tell you he is going to slam down in a red circle. Start moving once he starts floating up to avoid this and dodge. - When he says I can smell your flesh or whatever he is going to thrust his sword in the ground and do the ice spike thing. To avoid this just don't stand on any white circles - When 3 red blood circles appear in front of him he is going to dash forwards and spread the blood outwards. Stand behind him to avoid this. - Keep moving when the ice beam or blood beams are being fired and avoid stepping on any white or red dots to avoid damage. - In smoke form after he is done talking wait 0.5s and dodge to avoid the damage Pretty simple easy and fun. It took me awhile to beat him when the game first came out. But once I learned his mechanics he really is the most enjoyable boss in the game
" The ice beams are the most major culprits here. Many issues with this one: So, picture this: If I'm standing in a beam, I will freak and try to roll out. And if I do, I'm, more often than not, instantly under a different beam, causing me to get frozen in place, and unable to get out, and then I die on a second beam. They fire off fast AF too. And even some of the beams are very close to each other. Fact of the matter is, the beams need more duration on them, so we can react accordingly. |

Yeah the ice beam is his most dangerous attack. If you get hit by the first beam you get knocked out of a rhythm and are more likely to get hit by the second beam. It gets easier the more you fight him. It took like 15 tries for me to beat him my first time.
I've probably faced him 40 times by this point or more. The more you fight him the easier they are to avoid. I don't think he should be changed in anyway he is perfect the way he is now.
Geonor is a skill and DPS check
It's a very well designed boss through and through. During that little "poetry phase" you need to be able to react quickly and have some clearing ability. There's nothing in that fight that is unfair once you understand it. The only issue I ever had was that his sword attacks at the start were too quick to ever attack in between |
