since new patch dropped (april 10th) cpu temps now throttling at 100.
normal temp on my cpu is 36-40, when playing poe 2 it would sit in the 60's to 70's except when loading into a town.
since the patch that just dropped the game is throttling my cpu at 100 degrees with spikes up to 103, this is a massive issue and could burn up peoples computers. Last bumped on Apr 11, 2025, 12:00:47 AM

found the issue, apparently nvidia dlss got turned back on and that was causing the cpu spikes. turning it off sent the temps back down into the 50's.

" Actually good to know thanks for sharing. I was going to suggest not playing the game because your CPU will get damaged with those sustained temperatures. |

" System should automatically shut off if the cpu gets into dangerous territory. Depending in the cpu, 103 might not quite be there (it's close but 14900k can go above that, 7800x3d the limit is below that. Depends on the specific cpu) If it ISNT shutting itself off then his something in his bios isn't right, that could be him changing shit he shouldn't be or a load of other things. OP you should probably look into that. |

i have capped voltage and such in the bios because of the intel issues, the 14900k can go higher but the red zone starts at 100. i wouldnt keep running it at that temp and i monitor my temps on everything because of the intel issues. normally the game is quite lower. i am not sure why the dlss kicked back on but yeah that thing was nuking my machine.
also i turned off some things so i could undervolt it and reduce down some of its performance in order to keep temps in a much better place, which is why i monitor. thanks for looking out though! |
