We Need a Ruthless League and a Standard League in Order to Please Everybody

I'm of the opinion that this game is a bit too easy, and too many items drop. Many people are of the opinion that this game is too hard, or that you should be able to fly through the campaign with minimal effort.

If we have separate leagues, then we can please both sides. It's a win-win: the standard league can go in one direction, and the ruthless in the other. All of this arguing can stop. I recognize that the game I want to play is not the game a lot of players want to play, so I wouldn't want to ruin it for those players; however, I hope those players recognize that a lot of players don't want to play the game that they want to play. For example, I don't like how it feels like we're able to phase past monsters with our rolls, but I wouldn't wish that on the majority of players because I know they didn't like that.

When I look at the new changes, it really makes me want to quit. Of course, the Act 1 changes don't affect most players because very few people were dying in that act anyway. But making something that's easy and fast even easier shocked me.

Let's just go all of the way with it instead of giving players who complain about the difficulty or pacing a psychological win in Act 1. Because that's just one act, the complaining won't stop. Let's give them *everything* they want, while also having a Ruthless league going in the other direction that pleases the other players. We can all win.

HC SSF, btw.

I feel like once the new Poe1 league is out this will resolve a lot of issues.
I hope so, but it seems like a lot of people don't want to play poe1. They'd prefer to change poe2 into poe1.
Player base segregation isn't what i would call a solution, people want a challenging and meaningful experience but it currently feels more like a giant time sink that has no reward at the end with the games systems creating a negative gameplay loop, this bs that players want everything handed to them on a silver platter is just toxic and damages feedback.
Everyone who loves PoE1 don't really want to play that. They want this engine with these graphics and WASD and a new story with new everything.

And, if Ruthless was any indication, we would just end up with 5% of the player base in Ruthless and the rest in the "fun" league. That's why they are making a separate game. But they really should be make a non-path game for that, imo. PoE2 be a real sequel to PoE1, and the first game goes into maintenance mode. Then a different game designed around combo/parry/whatever mechanics with far fewer mobs and actual meaningful combat. Pre-determined loot most likely, and single player only. So...a souls game but from arpg perspective.
It would be hilarious if they added Ruthless and Vanilla but they changed nothing and just let the placebo effect make people think they're getting it. Tons would be fooled.

PoE 1 is very dated no matter how good/bad people thing it is. PoE 2 has way more potential and it will eventually run much better than PoE 1. And no, nobody is specifically asking GGG to turn PoE 2 into a 'zoom fest', one-button game.

We are asking for more agency over our builds, better game 'pace' (Campaign) and being able to do more with weapons like Spears (like being able to throw more than one or lodge more than one into the ground to explode). PoE 2 does not allow for such possibilities/things you can do. Limitations are good to ensure PoE 2 doesn't turn into a sensory overload on the screen with 100s of effects but not to the point where agency/freedom over our builds is almost completely gutted.
When game developers ignore the criticism that would improve their game, the game fails.
Just because a game receives a great amount of praise vs. only a small amount of criticism
does not mean to call it a day and make a foolish misplaced assumption that it is perfect.

True on that 5%. I'll be generous to say maybe 10%.

My proposal was this a few days ago: 'Funcore' (FC) League! (with SSF/HC modes for it) https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3745945

I know you're making a reasonable critique overall, but today I watched a video by Raxxanterax explaining how to turn lightning spear into a one button game for mouse click movement users https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skd1zLlzgEA&t=445s I do think there's actual demand for that playstyle.

Why don't you not use armor for example?
You have the freedom to make the game harder for yourself
Other people don't have the freedom to make the game easier for themselves.
