A suggestion to improve traveling: Haste
After listening to the latest Zizaran interview with Mark and Jonathan, I came up with an idea to counteract the feeling that some zones are too large without actually reducing their layout size.
Introduce a new mechanic: Haste Haste is a mechanic that activates automatically if the player has been moving without performing any action in the last 4 seconds, granting the Hasted buff, which gives #% more/increased movement speed. In addition to being completely disabled in certain areas such as towns and Ascendancy Trials, the character could lose Haste in the following two ways: A) When performing any action, stopping moving, taking damage, being hit, or interacting with the environment/NPCs. B) Same as above, but also includes being in presence of an enemy. Haste could have visual indicators to show when it's active. Something like a trail effect similar to Wind Dancer, or a visual effect like the Quicksilver Flask from PoE1. There could also be a short animation of the character sheathing their weapons. I also thought of a few passive skill tree nodes that could improve or interact with the Haste mechanic. More experienced players might choose to invest in enhancing Haste to speed up campaign progression, trading some combat power in exchange for better movement. The idea is that they would have to compensate for the lost power with skillful gameplay. Example passives: Notable: Gain #% skill speed for # seconds when you lose Haste. Notable: Your action speed cannot be reduced while Hasted. (applies only to the first hit/damage over time effect) Notable: Ignore movement speed penalties from armour while Hasted. Small Passive: #% increased effect of Haste. The values for Haste and its related passives could be easily adjusted based on gathered player data. " I suggested this last ladder. Frankly, +1, it makes traversing the world more dynamic and I actually like walking around in the set pieces, listening to the music, etc. |

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one suggesting something like this :)
