Minions in 0.2.0c

In this patch I was excited to try Lich as it looked good.

So I have specced into a minion build with skeletons in Act2.
And up to Jamanra, this build is doing OK.
However there is the one Boss fight mechanic in the Jamanra fight which puts paid to this minion build and that is the sandstorm.

This sandstorm kills all my skeletons which are my source of damage and during this effect, there are dozens of zombies spawning which I cannot kill quickly enough without my minions.

So this makes the Act2 Boss fight nigh impossible with a pure minions build.

I'll likely have to re-spec my Lich into something completely different and change all my gear and tree to use something like Gas Arrow/Flamewall just to get past Jamanra.

In 0.1 patch, minions seemed a lot more viable in the campaign especially Act2. I'm not sure what the "Vision" direction is with minions but whoever is making these decisions about 0.2.x is clearly not a player who plays minion builds.

If my workaround doesn't work, I'll just give up on POE2 and wait for POE1 3.26. Or just play more of the best POE league ever 3.25 and sigh over the missed opportunity that was POE2.

I'm following Ghazzy's adventures in Minions in 0.2.0.
and he seems to recommend not doing minions until like LATE Act3.

So basically play a Minion Build without minions (Chaos Witch/Lich) until you have your second Ascendancy?

What even is the point then of having minion gems at gem levels lower than 9?

You mean the BIG Bugs like in the Dreadnought or the little ones that are in the Quarry?
