PLEASE let us de-level gems / cut gems at a lower level

I need a level 8 spirit gem because of the insane stat requirements. I'm level 72 and I'm forced to repeat farm a level 27 zone hoping to get one to drop.

The loot is obviously nerfed this league compared to last, and I've cleared over a hundred zones now (this is literal, not hyberbole), with barely any skill gems and NOT EVEN A SINGLE spirit gem.

This is miserable, and needs to be fixed. Why on gods green earth can we not cut a gem to a lower level????????? Absolutely atrocious design.

Update: From the last hours of farming (not including total time farmed) I have TWENTY level 8 skill gems and ZERO level 8 spirit gems.

What am I supposed to do in SSF????

Baffling design, and extremely frustrating.

EDIT: I'm so annoyed that I used what little means I have as a consumer to change my Steam review from positive to negative. I'll also not buy any MTX until this shit is sorted out.

It's highly doubtful anyone at GGG sees this but it's all I can do. Goddamnit.
