Campaign Duration Feedback – Way Too Long for Casual Players

Dear GGG,

as someone who has played Path of Exile 1 since the original beta, I want to give clear feedback on one major issue in PoE 2: the campaign takes far too long to complete, especially for casual players.

Right now, it takes around 20 to 25+ hours to finish the campaign for Casual Players. For players who can only play 1–2 hours per day, that means 10 to 25 days just to get through the campaign and reach the actual core of the game – the endgame. That’s almost a month before they can even start engaging with most of the systems PoE is known for. And that is only for one Charakter.

This pacing simply doesn’t fit a modern ARPG. A campaign in a loot-focused game should never feel like a massive grind. In my opinion, 10–15 hours should be the upper limit for a full campaign run, even for first-time characters. Anything more starts to feel like a barrier rather than a journey.

I understand the intent to make the campaign feel more meaningful and story-rich, but currently it just feels like a huge time sink that many players won’t be able (or willing) to push through every league.

Please consider shortening the campaign significantly or introducing meaningful ways to skip it after the first completion – otherwise, a large part of your player base is going to burn out before they even reach the good stuff.

Yep.
Couldn't agree more.

Whats worse is that you get so far behind in the economy in a game that heavily favors trading due to no crafting currency drops (3 exalts in 20 hours here), you will forever be gated for good items.

The campaign does something worse as well; who on earth would like to do this more than once? It's so unfun, it feels like I'm at work!

GGG have massive problems at their hands. They are SO tunnel visioned into their idea of what the game should be, and it seems to me that Jonathan is a huge tyrant that desperately needs to have his way.

Ruthless appeals to less than 1% of the player base, and currently POE2 is very much like ruthless.
Agreed. Played slow for my first playthroug and will do again for any future acts but have no intention of doing so every league or character. As it stands i run past as much as I can and skip as much dialauge as possible
Aspects like act 2s finding out the gate is closed is a massive waste of time for someone who went to the mines first. Cut it.

Trading is unquestionably more accessible to casual players than crafting is...

The current trading system is so crap. It supports rmt and scamming or people just don't reply. An auto system similar to console poe1 is needed no excuse at this point.

Just completely disable player to player trading and put in an auto system and trading will work and prop up the broken loot problem

Please note: This post is only about the campaign. Economy, loot, and other systems are separate issues.

Yeah, no question. It's clunky and inelegant and there are a dozen different ways they could have done it that would be better... but it's still a much more effective way for casual players to get gear upgrades compared to crafting.

I mean, discuss what you want guy, but if you want to address how long the campaign takes to complete then it's absolutely not a "separate issue" from the item economy. The ability to consistently upgrade your items is one of the most important variables in determining how long the campaign takes.

Complete troll..you knew exactly what the OP meant.

Just to explain, the time it takes to complete the campaign in the way the OP describes means the economy has likely inflated to a point where they cannot catch up and never will. GGG pay you much?

OP is correct the campaign is too long, no matter how "good" a story it certainly will not be if you are forced to endure it everytime you want to level another character.

Campaign feels designed for a story mode game which is fine but does not fit into a seasonal themed game

Did I? Are you sure you did? Because I have no idea what you're saying.

Guy the thing that inflates the economy is the ability of everyone to speedrun to the end game and start spam farming drops to put on the market. Fewer people at the end game to farm items and fewer people buying them means it will take longer for inflation to take hold...

Also, you don't have to complete the campaign in order to trade. My original comment was specifically about how you can use trade to complete the campaign faster by upgrading items.
