Engame is a waste of time post-patch.

Logged into my monk to try to play. Was using ice strike. Nothing spectacular. No stupid amounts of damage (around 160k up to 500k with all buffs).

The game was decent. Highs and lows, but was able to amount some divines.

Patch comes.

Build is basically flipped on its head. Mobs hit like a truck. extra to that, there's rogue exiles. They hit like a truck. All the work done? thrown to the bin. Was hoping to kick level 4 xesht... as if!

Played huntress. First couple of levels were absolutely crap. Now its decent. But judging by how the endgame feels like in standard league? I'm not even going to bother playing any more. It's a complete waste of time.

Not even mentioning technical, isses, server oddities and the generally stuck and sucky feeling of the game performance wise. Because if we add that to the mix it feels like 5 years spent developing this game were done in a similar fashion to Diablo 4. Another fiasco of a game.

And to be honest, at this point, if you're so invested into a game you want to play, the way you feel like it? Go ahead and do it. People that wanted a somewhat chill experience will probably look for something else.

Looking at the item shop, I think you're slowly shaping into what other generic ARPGs are becoming, with gamble lootboxes and what not. Regret spending the money I did on mx and inventory expansions.

I know there's plenty of people who will come and start dunking on this post. And I don't care. Go ahead if it makes you feel better.

Couldn't agree more.

POE2 went from bad to worse.

No identity, just a cashgrab.
You haven't touched any league in poe1 except for Affliction, I saw the closed beta supporter and thought you might have played the earlier leagues but not even those have anything underthem.
You barely touch the first game.

The fact you said, ''chill experience will look for something else'' in regards to poe2 baffles me. It's significantly more chill than 1, it is far slower and less punishing than poe1.
''Looking at the item shop, I think you're slowly shaping into what other generic ARPGs are becoming, with gamble lootboxes and what not. ''
You are at best parroting points you've heard, mixed in with your own, ignorant, critisism.

Have some substance or credentials, have some hours under your belt, your post makes you look like a tourist, not a player.

Less punishing? Are you high ???
You do realize you're playing and early access version of the game where your build is likely to become completely useless after a major patch?

I think I'm well entitled to have an opinion. As for what and how much I played in Poe1, if all your judgement is based on that, it has zero value. Games are unrelated aside from lore. Compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges.

Lastly, the opinon I have with the lootboxes is based on me seeing them IN THE ACTUAL GAME STORE and remembering all the games I played just in the last 10 years that were shitty and used to same crap to artificially prolongue game experience.

On top of that, I've been working as a UX designer for over 20 years, and gambling is the lowest most accessible form of keeping people glued to the screen (which is what this game does).

Remind me again about why your opinion is far superior?

Totally agree. As it is now i see this game to be a one and done game and not a traditional arpg were you start all over again every 3/4 months. As of now just by looking at steam player count there are 160k players playing the game it´s a good number but i doubt we will see this every 3 months if the game stays as is.

It safe to say majority of the players don´t like this "vision" but will see in the future.
Yes, and that is very much linked to the implementation.

A traditional ARPG has a high churn design for characters. It's easy to level them up, and fast to bring them on to play the season. That's the whole point.

If you go the other route and go for something that asks you to invest a lot of time and care to create a balanced build that can clear endgame, its reasonable to expect a long shelf-life of that character due to the attached investment. This would be traditional for souls-like games.

In souls-like games, there are no game-breaking changes happening because most of the work was done already. At bax you talk about fine-tunes and small adjustments.

POE2 is NOT at that stage. It's beyond a early alpha stage, but to me it seems to be a lot like a MVP that's looking for it's vision. Kind of like "I have a solution and I'm looking for a problem to solve".

On one hand, there's the reality of what ARPGs should play like and work like, and on the other hand, the souls-like vision that simply doesnt mesh at all with the pace of a traditional ARPG.

The sensible thing that should be done is have people do private leagues with custom rules related to their playstyle, because it's obvious there is a wide variety of players.

1. The hardcore folks who want to be challenged and enjoy the current state. They will appreciate being able to play a game that scales with them
2. Streamers and people who want a more-or-less balanced approach where challenge is entertaining and makes up for stream numbers and whatever.
3. Regular people who love to play a complex game but don't want to feel the punishment dished out to hardcore people. They will be the ones dishing money for the microtransactions and represent over 60% of the player population in any game.
4. Newbies and entry-level players who want to test things out and just learn the ropes.

All of them have an equal right to play and a equal right to have their voices heard. The challenge is for GGG to ensure a game that will cater to all of them.

Since they love challenges so much, please, take on THIS! challenge and find a way to give them all what they want. I think that would be the ultimate test of skill for people who believe the game has to test you.

I believe this is your test.
