It seems they are trying to make poe2 like dark souls.... without understanding dark souls
The enemies in this game have insanely large health bars and come in large swarms and do large amounts of damage, while the player is dealing almost zero damage even if they have good gear.
They say they are inspired by dark souls... But they never learned the lessons of dark souls 1:Boss fights in dark souls actually have rather SMALL health bars, they just feel long because so much of the fight is spent dodging attacks that can one shot you... meanwhile in this game boss fights last 10 minutes or more, which is way too long 2:Boss fights in dark souls are rarely battles of attrition where you run out of flasks, most of the time you die in dark souls due to a missed dodge, if you are running out of flasks it is usually is only on the harder bosses of dark souls... but in poe 2 almost every boss is a battle of attrition that is dictated more by if you run out of flasks by the end than anything else Because bosses last so long and that there are too few sources of flask charges in most fights, it ends up being that only the builds with the highest dps in the game are even remotely viable. But dark souls never balanced its campaign around the top end of builds, it balanced it around the middle level. The thing that made dark souls hard is the high enemy damage, by adding incredibly large amounts of health to bosses, it isn't making it HARD, it is making it TEDIOUS. Ah yes, another unique Dark Souls take. This game and Dark Souls have nothing, absolutely nothing, in common. Pro tip, not everything that is remotely challenging is, or tries to be, a Soulslike.

This game has something in common with dark souls games. I don't play either of them.

They just don't test anything then make excuses for sniffing their own farts.

" This, i'm rolling my eyes more and more at players that clearly haven't played a souls game thinking they are making a souls game its got nothing in common and never has :p |

" They had actually said dark souls was one of their inspiration. You can tell in how the dodge roll feels that they took it from dark souls. They also seem to have wanted combat to feel deliberate. So actually understanding dark souls is important if you are trying to make a deliberate game that is based on dodging big boss attacks and retaliating. Games can be hard without being like dark souls. But this game STILL feels like they are trying to emulate some aspects of dark souls. |

Games like dark souls have “waves” of difficulty. You smash some easy stuff, have some tougher mobs, smash some more easy stuff, then have a crazy boss fight. PoE2 is the same level of tedious and unrewarding the entire time. Those other games people think PoE2 should be more like are also single play through games.
