PoE 2 is a Souls like Game with Combos and Mechanics

i feel the idea to try new thing is good... sadly trying to make a soul like with a arpg of this type is bad by design.
soul like will make you fight small group of enemy and even if you can fight a group of 10 enemy they are generally enemy you can dispatch fast. and will not deal tons of damage to you.

here enemy can simply destroy you while being too many, too fast and too strong.
i think most people was waiting for an improvement massive over the style that is poe. some stuff wasn't able to be made into poe 1 because the game wasn't means to have this sort of stuff.
and most people did expect a new entry in the serie... that why it's called poe 2. if they wanted to make a totally different game it was better to call it anything else. soo far poe 2 feel... badly balanced for be respectfull.
they nerf stuff based on the best build around... even if nerfing this can have an effect on other build. because not everyone want to play a meta build...

they did said wanting people to experience, but when some stuff are nerfed because some people did create build that did break the game and make experimenting painfull and hard.... it fail to allow people to experience...

the idea to say go play poe 1 if you are not happy is failing to see that a lot of people are not pleased with the game and they did wanted a change, an evolution for poe 1 throught poe 2. if i want to play a soul like arpg, i can go play some game like no rest for the wicked that are more balanced around this concept. here we have too many enemy that hit too hard and are too resilient for be a good soul like type of game. i don't want to spend my time to play a game where even the small trash is as hard than a boss... it kill the point to have boss.

"if everyone is special no one is special"

i hope they will adress this... if they want to have a super hard mode... create another difficulty setting for this and let people play it... don't force all your community to face this... give the choice...
Game is simply boring and a slog. Just to go through the campaign without committing seppuku will be a miracle.-
PoE2 and No Rest for the Wicked are barely in the same genre, which is probably a good thing for PoE2 looking at the other games player counts

PoE2 is not and will never be remotely 'souls-like'. Endgame is dependent on you running hundreds or even thousands of maps to do everything - do you really think GGG believe people will do that if the game had the same pace as the average area in No Rest for the Wicked?
Then it is not path of exile. Go chance your name and open your market elsewhere where no one gives a shit about your sub genre of arpg because it is an abomination.
I think the problem with this vision is that the game is just too unbalanced for it to work. The speed and number of enemies doesn't fit the kind of combo/mechanics heavy gameplay they want with Huntress. Enemies are too much faster than you and swarm you. Worse, there are other classes that don't have to engage with all of the complicated combo mechanics and do as much or more damage, leading players to think "Why would I waste my time with this class when I could just play something else that doesn't have these problems?"

I love the Souls games. Souls-likes are actually my favorite genre. But it just doesn't work here with the current design of the game. You have to slow monsters down and make the combo-heavy classes do enough damage to be worth the extra work.
You certainly can make this claim about the early game/story.

But PoE2 is NOT a souls-like ARPG when you get to the actual game which is after finishing the story.

I will spend 1 day in the story, and then i will spend 1000 hours in the endgame, and the endgame is NOT and DOES NOT feel anything like a "souls-like ARPG". I still play 1 button zerg builds that kill bosses between 1 and 5 seconds and that will NEVER be a "souls-like arpg".

Even with all the balance changes and nerfs this will still be the correct endgame experience when you learn how to make proper builds.

So i will just have to disagree with you.

Games like PoE 1, Last Epoch, Diablo they are built for speed where you zoom zoom without considering how many mobs are on the screen.

PoE 2 is a next gen Souls like ARPG game that should be compared to No Rest for the Wicked in this genre. Where you can't overpull packs, when you see a rare you need to look at the mods to access the threat and have to kite/dodge. Bosses should take 3-4 mins to kill. White mobs should be getting hit with combo skills.

This patch just got PoE 2 a lot closer to the vision of the game. It's supposed to be completely different than PoE 1 which is the reason it's a separate game.

Hopefully by launch we can have a great souls like game that is worthy of game of the year. Something fresh and new for the genre instead of the same ole blast nuking screens.

Don't get me wrong nothing wrong with loggin into PoE 1 or Last Epoch to blast but when you want engaging combo souls like combat games like PoE 2 and No Rest for the Wicked will be there for you.

That's all well and good but...it's not fun. I don't understand anyone who thinks this is fun. I start to think that people that find this fun also enjoy slamming their fingers in drawers.

It's all pain and no pleasure. All risk and no reward. All work and no play.

I don't think its a good idea to design games around aberrant personality traits.

While I do not understand people that think this is not fun and poe 1 is fun. Fact is people have different opinions on what is fun. This game is made for a public that had NOTHING for them ... the people that liek zoom zoom super power fantasy already had tons of games.
It is not! Souls games you can beat in bare-bones gear, if you learn how to play well. Not here.

Its safe to say this is nothing like a souls-like game outside of the first 3h of gameplay in the story. Once you understand how to make builds and get any reasonable high level setup going, you will still zoom thru 99% of the game and kill bosses in 1 second, without using any combos or any dodges or anything souls-like.

And this is still a ZOOMZOOM game once you play ACTUAL endgame.

Whats the logic behind making the first 4 hours of the story an annoying slogfest, but the actual 1000 hours of endgame loop is still zoomzoom like poe1?
