A Home Together: Shared Hideouts for a More Social PoE 2
Feature Suggestion: Shared Hideouts in Path of Exile 2
One of the core aspects of Path of Exile is its deep and immersive gameplay, but for many players, the experience can feel somewhat solitary—especially in the later stages of the game, where most time is spent in one's hideout. To enhance the social experience, I propose a feature that allows players to 'move in' to someone else's hideout with their consent, creating shared spaces that encourage interaction and foster a sense of community. Players could be given the option to share their hideout with friends or guild members, granting them permission to 'move in'. understandably, there's probably a lot of 'kinks' that you'd have to resolve to make it work, and I believe it's worth the effort for GGG to make it work. Benefits: Increased Social Interaction: Players would naturally encounter each other more often, strengthening friendships. A More Lively Endgame Experience: Instead of feeling isolated in a personal hideout, players would see their friends' characters around, making the game world feel more alive. A Sense of Belonging: Having a shared space could encourage players to form closer bonds, making the game feel less like a solo grind and more like a shared adventure. I believe this would be a valuable addition to the game, making hideouts more than just a personal retreat but also a social hub where players can gather, interact, and forge stronger connections within the community. It is a cool idea, i really like it.
I just do not know if it would be possible to implement it without a huge amount of work. We have guild hideouts in the game already that can work that way, but what it would need for your idea is multiple map devices, so everyone can run their own maps while sharing a hideout, right? So far, only the party leader can open up maps in the guild hideout and i guess it is like that for a reason. So i assume it would be very difficult to make it happen. But it would be fun for sure :D www.twitch.tv/marloss_live

" The work could potentially be a lot depending on how it's all coded. Multiple map devices would be needed for one. Guild Hideouts aren't really the same thing as I'm suggesting. First of all, not everyone is in a guild nor want to be in one. The guild hideout has a 'public' feel to it and isn't really the same as a shared hideout as that would be more intimate and like you're truly playing the game with someone else. I don't nor would want to play in my guilds hideout, but would love to have a hideout with my IRL friends or even people I've met in the game. It would foster friendships and enable a better social experience of the game. It could also remedy the fact IF trading 'improves' and gets some sort of AH, or something that makes it less social, this system would still provide a way to have a meaningful interaction into the game socially. And guild hideouts isn't the same! |
