Recombination seems like more gambling
Atleast give us the option to 'lock' ONE modifier because its just gambling stacked on more gambling-- its not even crafting

What is the cost of "the option" ?
Edit If we mean crafting "a process that involves multiple steps", are you looking for ways to shorten that process? Everything I do should be wrong so please correct me if I do it right <3 Stop Bombing Moment Joon 【Passport & Garcon】https://bit.ly/2wXiUSj MonoNeon 【Put On Earth For You】https://bit.ly/3I22mru Last edited by finisterre#5659 on Mar 27, 2025, 10:33:36 PM

" Its not so much the many steps but the idea that you can hunt & loot for near perfect items for recomb and you can still only get the ones you dont want. Like you have Weapon 1 with 6 mods of [a,b,X,d,e,f] and Weapon 2 with [a,X,c,d,e,f] and it could still give you [a,X,X,d,e,f] and now you just lost progress and can be endless effort trying to build ur perfect item. If we can lock atleast 1 mod at a time then atleast maybe we could have kept (b) or (c) in that case with one (X) and just try again another time instead of going 2 steps back. Real crafting in games are about being able to build something INTENTIONALLY--gradually upgrading something and not this poker game you could lose everything or endlessly hunting for materials-- might as well just luck it out grinding loot. The q&a session after the reveal in the livestream:
PATH of EXILE 2: 0.2.0 Q&A - DAWN of the HUNT Listen to the first 5 minutes of the video, they talk about updating the mechanic (that might not make it in time for 0.2.0) that you might be happier with. |

" If a build is meant to continue to evolve over time, then when setting normalized probabilities based on the recombinator, all other probability-based factors need to be taken into account as fundamentally positive factors. I understand why you don't like Recombinator and it's reasonable feedback. I meant if we count Recombinator as the mean of "refinement of drops" or a part of the core concept of arpg "grind for gears". " Modern manufacturing is based on intensive infrastructure and relies on significant investments in the quality and variety of materials, their distribution and their standardization. In order to improve yields in small-scale manufacturing, it is essential to increase minimum standards. (edit if we don't take "unexpected result" into account as "crafting".) A common way to avoid these troublesome "procedures" is to continue making prototypes without aiming for perfection. For example, famous Japanese (steel) swords are actually the surviving remains of failed attempts. The displayed recomb is RNG. Essentially another useless "crafting" method. They pretty much *have* to implement being able to choose mods but I'm sure it'll be so weighted that you brick/destroy any items where you choose more than 3 mods. They make everything so depressing in this game. It's like playing a tabletop RPG with a DM who does everything to try and kill the players instead of involve them in an interesting story.

" I've tried to shorten the length of a single TTRPG session (few hours). It had come to be like PoE campaign speedrun :P I mean there should be a standard for the game to be interactive. If a player does not accept the standard, actual game play would become challenging (unless the game actively tries to avoid certain outcomes. it's not that the game system is random but the player's choice.)
