New Content Update Is Just A Hype
The new upcoming content update is nothing but a hype.
It will not bring back the players who quit, unless GGG fix the core issues haunting this game like the trash loots, trials, death xp penalty, one portal per map, one shot mechanics, broken armor/resistance and a lot more. It seems POE 2 is following Diablo 4 path wherein blizzard disregard to fix the core issues of the game. Diablo 4 players cannot stand to play the new season for 5 mins they just stop and quit the game, because they see the game has no future. And POE 2 is crossing this path and it will end up just like Diablo 4. To put it simply if GGG implemented a bad mechanics on an early access game, and don't want to fix the core issues, this game is going nowhere and players will just stop playing POE 2 and play another game. You haven't even seen what's in the update yet. Maybe wait for the end of the week, see what's announced, and then decide whether it's worth your time? I have a feeling that a lot of players are going to do exactly that. How many, exactly? We'll know in a couple of weeks, once we see that week-end's player numbers.
Stay sane, exiles!

This dude's opinion can be ignored entirely. Part of the "I played diablo4 so I know a lot about this sort of game" player base.
None of the issues you list are the reason why poe2 is flopping. On the contrary, drop rates are arguably too high. Just look at the price of rares on the website. You can buy a near perfect roll for 10 chaos. Increasing drop rates might seem like a good idea to someone stupid but the rest of us know it just drives down the going rate for gear. Clearly you don't know what the game needs but I can help. It needs more complex systems. More crafting options and currency. Less uniques that are mandatory in every build. Redefining of the feedback loop: farm --> get gear --> to farm slightly faster. Stability with the newest operating systems. Better optimization from GPU (dropping down to 15 fps and GPU is at 30% load). End game depth. I could go on but these are the real problems. Not xp penalty and 1 death per map lol. Maybe if this is your 2nd Arpg those might be issues. |

I wouldn't call those core flaws.
Ignite. Bleed. Their intention of creating combo skills to resolve 1 button play styles. Grossly out of proportion Damage in late game. Questionable decision on 1 Support use. Enemy Density. Complete nonsense Ascendancy nodes. Itemization in general. Some things they just did because it was in PoE1 without asking why. Think about this. Why is their Energy Shield? It was a mock up of Mana Shield from Diablo but we don't have Life Wheels so why aren't we just using Damage to Mana like before? ES Literally has no purpose in PoE2. Removing one support use would be so dunm. Oh yeah I'd like all of my skills to have the same exact 4 support gems.
