Will 0.2.0 reset economy as new league?

It means:

1) All current characters, your whole stash and the guild stash are sent to Standard League ("Permanent League" would be a more fitting name IMO)
Standard is an ever-lasting league, you can play there and progress the same character for years if you want.
Once a challenge league ends, it gets "dumped" on Standard. It's a league not many people play.

2) Then a new league is introduced. In a more straightforward explanation: the game is fully reset and everyone starts from scratch (lvl 1 characters, empty stashes).
At this point, you can either stick with your old characters in Standard League, or start from scratch in the new league

You can also think of leagues as different "servers" that do not communicate with each other (this is a just a didactic explanation and does not paint the whole picture)

basically a brand new league. All of our characters/items will go to a dead "standard league" that no one plays.

The new league gets the new content, and to play it you need to start a new character from level 1 with no items.

I don't believe this is true for Early Access. They've stated multiple times that EA characters won't transfer to Standard League when 1.0 is released. We will eventually lose all of our EA characters and items. Not sure if they've changed their minds on that yet, but I haven't seen them say they have.

So in the meantime we will get a weird "EA Standard league" which no one will play and eventually that will be wiped too.

its a shame that allegedly no one plays standard league. the idea of having to start over after putting so much time into a char is disconcerting. and losing the char all together when the game official launches also sucks to hear. why bother even playing in that case? perhaps the idea is to play the campaign over and over and always lose everything, but for someone like me without much free time, its a huge turn off.

I have 125 hours now. I'm not experienced enough to speed run, so I've taken that long to get to full ascendancy and lvl 91.

I've done just one of the three towers I'm supposed to beat on the atlas map. Not even seen the other towers yet, so I don't even know when they'll pop. I've done over 100 maps. I've not even touched crafting, beyond throwing a few exalts at something.

Bit like in POE1, for those that don't have crazy amounts of time to play there is no end-game to get to. You just don't get time to get far enough before it resets.

Shame that Standard isn't pushed a little better/harder imo. But clearly ggg make their money on league-pounders, so that's what's going to persevere.

They've said nothing gets wiped because nothing needs to get wiped.

There is no benefit for new league server. If you don't care economy reset just stay in standart you'll get same contents as new league server. It's just named update not actually league anyway

They are releasing the content on current servers and adding an additional league option for people that want to start fresh. If you don't care about any of that then just play how you normally are and blast. Typically all new content goes to those leagues first then goes to everyone else once that league ends but with it being EA I guess they are afraid of the people that don't want to bother starting over so giving everyone the same thing.
