We need to talk about atlas maps.

There are many problems with the current maps.
1 they are all extremely large.
2 most of them are labyrinthine.
3 you're forced to waste time looking for rare mobs on huge maps.
These factors are very annoying in the game, what was supposed to be fun becomes a boring thing that I'm afraid to give you.
The impression I get is that the devs are against us having fun.
Rare monsters should appear on the map as soon as you kill the first mob, there should be more linear maps.
I loved it when the Bluff map was implemented in the game, with the current state of the atlas my dream would be to have only Bluff in the whole atlas, that would make the game 100% better for me.

I dont disagree with your post at all; some of the maps could stand to be a little smaller (hidden grotto and sulfur springs come to mind when thinking of maps that combine the worst of both worlds).

However, I see a lot of hate directed to maps like crypt or augury but I absolutely love them. Sure, I'm running a galv build w/ herald thunder/ash so it lets me squish a lot of mobs into tight spaces but I'd hate to see it removed.

Conversely, maps like savannah or willow are on my yuck list; I have to keep one eye on my mimimap to make sure i dont run afoul of terrain and things can get so spread out. There's very little terrain to use for cover/breathing room so i have to hope i dont get a hasted stunning leaper w/ manadrain because i'll just be toast.

But yeah, some of the maps could stand to be a little smaller. A map like augury or crypt could stand to be 10% smaller while I'd like to see savannah or willow shrink by 25%-30%
