Reforging bench is a cool idea but everyone hates the implementation

I like the idea of reforging bench. It's more involved than alteration/chaos spam and i like involved, however the current implementation has major issues:

1) Alterations used exactly one cell in the currency tab. To use reforging bench, you need 3 items with the same base and rarity, and until you get all 3, 2 are sitting in your stash. While it's good for stash tab sales, it's bad for user experience. (partial) Solution: introduce a new currency which can be put into the bench in place of an item. One for magic, one for rares.

2) It's hard to pick three reforgable items in a quad tab which is a MAJOR annoyance. Solution: when you hover over an item while holding alt or something, other items which can be put into the reforging bench with it should be highlighted.

3) It's completely useless during the campaign. You progress much faster than in endgame, and by the time you've collected three reforgable items, the base is already useless for your character. Solution: no real solution here, just make it so that reforging low item level items requires two items instead of three idk. And buff drop rates.

4) At it's core it's not that much different from alteration/chaos spam, there's just more things you need to do. Solution: add some additional element to it. It could be similar to how to Skyrim's alchemy works, if if there are two items with the same affix being reforged, that affix has higher chance to appear in the new item (though i think maybe people normally put items with bad affixes there, like this is why they want them reforged), or there could be a small chance for magic items to be reforged into a rare, whatever. We already have something like this for essenses, maps, and delirium stuff.
