Atlas Tree: Perfection in POE 1 vs. Missed Potential in POE 2.
Maybe it’s important to realize that the most effort and the most criticism will come from longtime players who have been eagerly waiting for Path of Exile 2 for years. For them, this means the most. If someone has supported GGG for 8 years and has experienced amazing leagues in Path of Exile 1, enjoying them for years, now they’re faced with a successor to their game that will likely bury the first game by 90%.
And if anyone still thinks that these two games will coexist, even now Path of Exile 1 is being completely neglected in terms of content. Even if a new league comes out, within 3 years Path of Exile 1 will likely be abandoned, and many players realize this. For someone who loved Expedition in POE 1, where there were so many options like buying currency and customizing endgame, and now plays POE 2 where Expedition is completely dull and almost 80% worse, what are they supposed to do? Imagine being someone who always starts every league with Expedition because they enjoy it, and now what should they do in POE 2? Be bored? Of course, they’ll leave, and why wouldn’t they write feedback? If POE 2 continues in this direction, they might lose interest in supporting the game for another 8 years. Personally, I love Alva, her time traveling, and the search for Vaal temples, and I’m already afraid that if she ends up like Expedition, I’ll be very disappointed. Path of Exile 1 also created a perfect mechanic in the form of the Atlas Tree. There is no other game that allows such customization of the endgame, and I honestly don’t understand how they can think that the tree in Path of Exile 2 is even remotely good. Skills for maps give bonuses that are completely irrelevant—everyone will just take more rares, more waystones, and biome or table bonuses, nothing else! There’s nothing else worth picking. And the leagues? They’re not even endgame—they’re at the beginning of the endgame! The system allows you to allocate your first two points for a league skill only after you’re nearly done with the entire endgame! In Path of Exile 1, I wasn’t even in red maps yet, and I could already max out Expedition, Alva, Blight, or strongboxes. But now? I’m at the end of the endgame, and I’ve been farming for 3 days just to get a single logbook. Last bumped on Jan 23, 2025, 4:36:41 AM

Economically, poe-2 may be a success (thanks to the fame they have for poe-1), but in all other respects it is a complete disaster.
