40 Hours In, and I’m Already Tired of This Game POE2

I've played POE1 for over 80 hours in the past three weeks and found it to be a great game—much better than D4. That’s why, even though I’m not usually a fan of early access games, I’m very willing to spend money on POE2. However, the play experience didn’t fully meet my expectations. The campaign started off strong, but things went downhill once the Cruel difficulty began. The maps are large to begin with, and having to replay them in the Cruel acts made the experience feel torturous and exhausting by the time I finished.
The real frustration, though, comes with the "one-death maps." This is just terrible design. I’m not playing in Hardcore mode; I’m just in Standard. Over the last 40 hours, I’d say the game hasn’t been very enjoyable. Still, it’s an EA title so I’m hopeful that GGG will address these issues in future updates. For now, I think I’ll take a break and return to POE1 for a while.

I think there might have been something to do with your character build but I'm sure everyone wants the full 6 act game and to not repeat.

In my case my character "came online" basically in cruel and eventually maps.

I think it does force a different play style and your maps will sustain even if you have one portal because they are disposable basically. The portal closed but you can run the same area again with a different wayston, just no mods.

Usually if you're frustrated it's basically a gear check

I think the main reason I’m already tired of the game is that there aren’t enough mechanics to play with, unlike in POE1. Hopefully, when POE2 is fully released, it will include all the mechanics from POE1, with new ones added as extra features to enhance the experience.

I think you are right, my gear isn’t that great, and I think I might just be tired after the campaign. The whole "one-death map" system is really what set me off and made me not wanna play anymore. In addition, there aren’t enough mechanics in the endgame. It’s just boring for me to be constantly mapping around. But yeah, it’s still an EA title, and I just hope the devs will add those great mechanics in future patches.
The main problem with the one-death mechanic is it is an idea taken from another game(Last Epoch or something?) but this game(poe2) isn't designed around it. So the player doesn't just feel bad about dying, they feel devastated enough to log out. Maybe they come back later or the next day. There are definitely things in this game that make a player want to come back. Kind of like a golfer who is thinking about that time he birdie'd a hole. And just like PoE2 he returns to the game and begins shanking everything into the woods or water. Except all he loses there is a ball, some time, and gain some kind of player experience if he is paying attention at all. In PoE2 you just lose. No gain. And potentially more time than you would in a full round of golf.
