Post#4 Corruption for Your Character - A New Gameplay Mechanic Idea

Hey Exiles,

I’ve been thinking about a new gameplay mechanic that could add depth to character customization and make the game even more exciting: Corruption for your character.

Currently, we only corrupt items, but what if we could corrupt ourselves? Here’s the idea:

How It Would Work:
Corruption Points (CP): You earn Corruption Points (CP) through high-level content like bosses or completing special challenges. These points let you corrupt your character at a special Corruption Altar.

The Corruption Tree:
Think of it like an Ascendancy, but for corruption. You choose what to sacrifice (life, resistances, etc.) in exchange for powerful buffs or abilities. For example:

Sacrifice Life for More Damage: Lose a chunk of life, gain a huge damage boost.
Sacrifice Resistances for Speed: Lower your elemental resistances, but gain movement and attack speed.
Chaos Corruption: Boost your energy shield and chaos damage but become more vulnerable to physical damage.
Permanent Choices: Once you corrupt your character, it’s permanent unless you use rare resources to “purge” or reset it. This gives the system a high-risk, high-reward feel.

Corruption Synergy: Corruption would work well with the Ascendancy and Skill Tree, offering unique synergies. Some ascendancy classes could get bonuses based on your corruption level.

Why It’s Exciting:
Customization: You could make your character feel completely unique, balancing buffs and drawbacks based on your playstyle.
Endgame Content: Imagine new Corruption Zones or Corruption Challenges, where the difficulty is tailored to how much you’ve corrupted your character.
High Stakes: Corruption gives you more power but at a cost, forcing you to make strategic decisions about your build.
Balancing:
The system would need careful balancing to ensure it doesn't become OP. The drawbacks need to be meaningful so that players can't just stack corruption without thinking about the consequences.

In short, Corruption for your character could be a cool way to take customization and build diversity to the next level. It’s risky, rewarding, and would add even more depth to the game. What do you think?
Would love to hear your thoughts!

Cheers!
