Point blank shot - yes or no?
Is point blank shot a good way of preventing you getting killed by reflecting critters? In theory, the damage bonus should come in handy when you need it most (i.e. when you're getting swarmed) while at the same time decreasing the damage of stray arrows that happen to hit monsters you haven't intended to hit.
Builds however are steering clear of point blank shot, so I must be missing something. What are your thoughts? |

When it comes to farming XP/Gear, the "When you need it bonus" vs having all of your damage reduced for almost everything you are shooting at (unless it makes it to melee range) will slow you down significantly.
I generally don't let many things near me if I can avoid it, so taking this skill would reduce most of the damage I do instead of conveying any benefits. |

Point Blank benefits 1 type of build: the tanky build.
As such, I've never seen a Ranger able to use Point Blank (whether keystone or support) to good effect simply because it's harder to build up defense when a lot of your passives are spent on dexterity. A Marauder on the other hand is able to use PB because of all the life passives on his way to the PB keystone. Take a gander at this 118 point build. The amount of easily available life for the Marauder promotes PB playstyle, which the Ranger is unsuited for. For her to copy the aforementioned build, the Ranger loses out on the number of points to achieve the same effect. hi,
actually i am using it with RoA and it seems it s not fixed yet. I mean I read somewhere there is a bug or so about RoA+PB: the damage reduction is not about where you are but about the impact of the projectiles and the radius of the area. I dont know if it s true or not, what i can tell you is that I dont feel any damage reduction while far away from mobs. ~Sara edit : " @ Islidox : actually, it s doable. " It's a build that works, but I can get a lot more damage starting from the Mara tree and not worry about mana assuming we use % auras like Hatred/Determination/Haste or Vitality/Purity, and still be tanky. Also I never have to worry about not missing since I take the RT keystone. Using the same number of points in a 107pt build, I can be just as tanky or more from the Mara side while being able to pick up important notables in the Duelist tree (Mana Flows, Acceleration, Fury Bolts, Leather&Steel). I just skimmed through the post and im not 100% sure if this is what you are asking.
Are you saying you are thinking of getting point blank because you want to reduct the damage on reflect mobs that are further away because point plank reduces your damage? If thats what you are asking, no. Point blank does not decrease your damage at all, at the edge of your screen, you will do 100% damage and while the monster comes close to you, it will gradually increase to 150%. There is no negative damage when getting the point blank node. Ign: Kiaraa, Kionn , Nalaa
