Weapon Swapping eliminates Grim Feast ES overcap

As a Spark Sorcerer, I am using a Wand and Focus, and then a Chiming Staff in my secondary weapon set so I can drop Sigil of Power.

My Focus has energy shield stats on it.

So, any time I weapon swap to drop a sigil, I LOSE the energy shield stats (which is expected.) But now, when I swap BACK to my wand and focus, after dropping a Sigil of Power, it "dings" my ES as if I have taken damage, and eliminates any and all over-cap of ES that Grim Feast has provided.

Essentially it has created a situation where I have to give up any overcap of ES if I want to use Sigil of Power now.

As an example:

I have some overcap from Grim Feast using wand/focus and my Shield is at 2005/1815 Energy Shield.

I weapon swap to my staff, I am now at 1694/1504 Energy Shield.

I weapon swap BACK to my wand/focus and my energy shield dips, eliminating the overcap and putting me at 1815/1815 ES.

what is linked in the flame wall gem? i dont get this behavior with only fortress.
I just edited my post and figured it out. Its actually related to weapon swapping. It didnt behave this way before, but my edit should hopefully provide more concise information.
Seems change is related to how health/energy is translated between the sets. Before the patch it used the percentage so when swapping back and forth no energy shield would be lost.

Now it seems to use the literal value when going to a weapon set with higher health/energy. This prevents you from "gaining" any health/energy shield when weapon swapping.

The issue here comes when swapping to a set with lower energy shield. With grim harvest it will always remove the difference in the base values of the two energy shields. Even if the value is still less then the 200% overflow. So what happens is with every swap down you lose the difference in base energy shield from your overflow till eventually you are below 100%.

Some numbers to maybe explain it better.

10358/5179 -> 8610/4305 (Swapping down capped to 200%)

8610/5179 -> 7736/4305 (Swapping up kept the value. Swapping down still lost the difference in base 874)

7736/5179 -> 6862/4305 (Again lost the difference in bases 874)
etc...

This pretty much kills Grim Harvest with two weapon sets that have any decent difference in energy shield.

Exactly this. I use a Chiming Staff for the sigil and it pretty much removes my ability to use that sigil now (unless I'm okay with getting rid of any over-cap of Energy Shield - which I'm not.)
This is also happening if you have %ES nodes on one weapon swap tree, but not on the other. Paired with a focus/no focus, I take over 5k 'damage' every time I weapon swap, and this is before taking into account the overshield from Grim Feast lost on top of that.
This can also be abused as it triggers 'energy shield recharge started recently' every time I weapon swap.
is this intended behavior or bug? had to get micromanage-y with my secondary offhand to make sure it matched the ES of my main offhand. this at least temporarily fixes issue where es overflow just disappears, but just a pain in the neck. also required a decent amount of fudging in passives, almost fully eliminating different routing between weapon sets to make it work

Just tried it myself.

Behaviour seems to be as follows:

When swapping to a deck with less energy shield, the difference between overcap and limit is retained (ie 10k max, 12k current, swap to a 6k deck -> result is 8k overcap on 6k max).

When swapping to a deck with more energy shield, the current value of ES is retained (in the above example, if you swap the other way from 8k overcap 6k max to 10k max, you end up at 8k out of 10k).
This is for sure a bug, seen a few similar posts. This occured on my character prior to the patch, but managed to somehow fix itself. Now it appears to be a permanent bug post patch. This isn't intended behavior and not how it used to work.
It happens also with the monk charged staff. When you activate it you loose the stacked ES from skill Grim.
Its like you have suffered an enemy hit.
It was not present this issue prior to the new patch arrival.
We need a hotfix for this please.
Loosing life by activating a skill, we dont need to give the enemies help by self inflicting pain.
