Remake trading in PoE2 !! (PLZ)
I get it. the 'easy way' was to pretty much copy+paste the PoE1 system to PoE2..
Here's why I hate it. Buying an item; 1. I see an item I want to buy. I message the person and get no reply. 2. The seller is there but needs time to get back to me. 3. Price fixers will list an item and never sell it, to artificially control the market. 4. I waste so much time when it's not needed. 5. I then have to go to their hideout, and sit through loading screens 6. I cannot buy items from OFFLINE users. 7. The item comes down and then is listed for a higher price. 8. The user replies only to ask for more money, he just wanted more peoples interest With more time, I'm sure I can think of a couple more examples. Selling an item; 1. I have to stop what I'm doing to go trade. 2. I have to wait for that person to join my hideout and trade. 3. After selling, someones gotta break the party. 4. More unneeded loading screens to complete transaction 5. Sometimes that whisperers msg doesn't link the item, so I dont get that purple border and have to manually find that item. ( btw, that purple border when it works is awesome) 6. Sometimes that's -1 portal, or delayed sales, which you may lose the buyer again, this list can go on and on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ the 'hard way' is to make a better functioning system, but here's what it'd look like if I could make something. Buying an item; 1. go to trade website and find the item you'd like to purchase 2. hit purchase item 3. confirm you'd like to purchase that item. 4. go to Alva in-game and collect item 5. you're done. Selling an item; 1. go to your public tab and set the items price 2. you have 1 minute to change you mind / reprice before that item is listed on the trade website. 3. you're done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OK, so let's look at this and give a couple 'what if' situations. Q: What if... you buy an item and have no room for it? A: There will be a new Marketplace NPC added (towns & hideouts) and they will have two trade tabs (withdraw only) These two trade tabs (withdraw only) will be a quad tab and a currency tab. Q: What if... that quad tab is full? A: Upon clicking 'Confirm' to buy your item, you will be denied and you will receive a message to go visit *New NPC* in-game. Q: What if... I'm selling an item, how do I get my money? A: By default, the currency will go to *New NPC*'s (withdraw only) tab. Q: What if... I have my own currency tab? A: You will be able to set your default to your currency tab if you'd like. Instead of needing to visit *New NPC*. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONS; GGG would have to make this system. Sellers can accidently sell an item. If your tab says 1ex and you drop something good. well, 1-minute later it may go poof. (that's on you though...) You wouldn't be able to see other players cool hideouts (unless were manually trading an item because you didn't list a price so you resorted to using the "old way" of trading) PROS; Less frustration overall You get what you want instantly for the price listed. You can buy items from offline users. You don't need to wait for responses. You eliminate all the price fixers. You don't need to stop your gameplay to make transactions. You don't need to make extra clicks joining/leaving parties. You don't need to waste time in loading screens (possibly crashing as well) You can login the next day, and see that you've sold tons of items while offline ( super cool logging into that right? ) You save TIME. That last one is big... If GGG spend a small amount of TIME making something amazing... we as players, collectively would save years of wasting TIME. Think of all the wasted TIME that's already occurred in PoE1's trade history. Let's not repeat wasting TIME with trading in PoE2.... please? Last bumped on Jan 16, 2025, 4:09:32 PM

Solve this problem:
Inexperienced player who cannot determine the value of an item lists something that is worth 10 Div for 5ex. In your system that item would get snatched instantly and the new player loses out on some money and a learning opportunity. Currently that player would get whispered en mass, which should suggest to them that they may have under priced the item. Hopefully they spend some time figuring out why so many people what that item and how much they should list it for. This process is extremely valuable and makes them a better trader. If you find yourself not getting replies, you're likely not trying to purchase an item for what it's worth. Sure, lots of people post things for 1 ex and wont sell it. Who cares. If you know the item is worth 20 ex then you can start shopping there. Many of the people complaining that they arent getting replies are themselves attempting to scam someone out of a valuable item. |

In a perfect world, GGG would make their own trade price checker in-game.
Every stat on an item would be able to be searched for. Currently we are missing the ability to look up stats on specific items. (...and im guessing a lot aren't using 3rd party tools which greatly enhances their game, especially for newer players) Once we can search for any item there would be no guessing what an items worth as long as there's already similar items sitting on market. so back to the question; "Inexperienced player who cannot determine the value of an item lists something that is worth 10 Div for 5ex." if that player has the tools provided to them, then they could determine the value. also, with the original proposed system, you would still be able to publicly list an item to market, without a price to buy it. ex; new league starts, I'm the only person selling a drop I just got 'temporalis' there are none on the market. I can put it in my public tab and not list a price. buyers can see the listing and msg me offers, if I find a price I'm ok with, I can meetup with them and trade the traditional way. or just re-list the item for that price, and 1 minute later anyone can buy it. |

" As easy as GGG doing the same as with alva. If in alva you want to sell a divine for exalted and you place wrong, the amount of exalted you get a warning before buying that your order is too low compared to the market. Creador de contenido https://www.youtube.com/@Deiris

We need an automatic-trade market like Undecember; the game GGG made for korean company. You just place items & price in the market then anyone can buy it anytime. You come back to pick up money afterward.

" what? this literally still happens though, and is more likely to happen in this system cause its harder to compare prices. sure there are a few popular items that players will get spammed for, but the vast majority of items are more niche and require waiting to find the right buyer. also, every other game has an AH style system and no one complains that "they didnt know the value". no system is perfect but the current system is hardly a fix to the problem you just mentioned. having a more automated system is a much better solution than what we have now. |

" Right, pretty much everyone understands that one single "positive" point you raised, but here's the thing... that's not even a positive. Great, so a new player didn't get self-scammed and managed to get the full value for their item. But what was the cost? Potentially Wasting dozens or hundreds of people's time and building mass frustration (it certainly frustrates me whenever I have to use PoE2 trade) so that one person can effectively price check their item. Extrapolate this example out to hundreds of thousands of people and you end up with PoE2's extremely tedious trading. |

" that's why we need some sort of "find similar" tool |
