Game unplayable due to lag in EU
" Well - it was not me talking last Sunday how GGG didn't even think players were having waystone sustain issues, cause they themselves did not have this issue when they were playing.
" Lagging and dying in maps so you cant sustain them or being generally shit at the game is no reason for them to increase the drops if a lot of players that arnt clueless can easily sustain them. |

I've not noticed any lag on the London server since launch, might be an ISP going the long way round or something? I really don't understand networking hope that doesn't show

" Acting like lag and server issues are not a real thing that affects all ONLINE games is almost as stupid as your comment there m8. There are alot of cluless players - but there are also ALOT of players currently playing an online game in EU for example.. with lag and server problems that is always going to hinter their progression. If a game developer is not taking these issues into account, you get these clueless answers like we got from them last Sunday with waystone sustain.
" It is a bit strange since half of my group deal with it and other half doesn't and can't really find a red thread. (we all live in different parts of Europe.) |

" Is that actually a thing? if i'm lagging i simply don't play the game, but that happens once in a blue moon. Can someone back this dudes claims? |

I've had no issues with internet lag except for 2 server crashes on breach when killing the whole map in 1 hit. I do notice that this game lags extremely hard on slow download speeds or when downloading something else (I have poor internet)
" I can assure you from working in IT that every large online game or service will always have a percentage people which experiences lag. Networking can get very complex very easily. Last edited by BesottedOrb#0064 on Jan 15, 2025, 10:19:03 AM

Yes - Also these issues are made even more complicated by different numbers of players playing peak hours vs down hours when very few are online. Server load can then also become part of the problem on top of extra lag and bandwith issues.
Latency will always be a big factor and affects difficulty in online gaming. This is one of the reason why many prefer to play ARPGs and other Action based games without this online hassle cause anything over 50ms with just 1-5 % package loss during peak hours can be very punishing. This also explains why souls like games are still played offline most of the time ;) Any extra latency can change these games from being enjoyable into just being brutally frustrating and pointless to play.
