Shock value hidden cap, or not being calculated properly
After watching the footage of me completing two successful runs of T4 Xesht, I noticed a miscalculation in the shock values between the two fights. In the first fight, I am not using the ascendancy "Unbound Avatar" and the maximum shock value is at 69% as it appears in the screenshot below:
![]() After experimenting with my build I thought I'd try out the "Unbound Avatar" ascendancy skill (40% more elemental dmg (aside from the other stats), for ~14-15 seconds on my support gem setup). In both cases I'm in the exact same gear and the only difference is two ascendancy points specced from "Sunder my enemies..." to "...and I shall rage" (the "Unbound Avatar" skill ascendancy). The result of that should be a substantially increased shock value due to the increased lightning damage hits of the buffed lightning arrow, yet the shock value looks like it caps at 69% again as seen below: ![]() I rewatched the whole fight thinking it might be a momentary statistical anomaly (which would still be unlikely) but as it turns out shock caps for me at 69%, right after I shoot for a couple of seconds with Unbound Avatar active, lightning rods down and Voltaic mark on target. As shock is a core elemental ailment and major build mechanic that requires heavy investment, an accurate feedback of it's effect below the health bar is our only way to measure our success with lightning builds. Any information that might enlighten us would be welcome, even if a fix might occur in the future. Any clarification on my Passive Tree or Gear can be provided if deemed helpful. Thank you for the consideration in advance. Last bumped on Jan 14, 2025, 11:48:27 PM

" Looking at the in-game explanation for Shock, it sounds like you're expecting PoE1's shock mechanic where PoE2 does things differently. Shock is a 20% debuff. It isn't bigger/smaller based on the size of the hit--heavier hits simply have a higher chance to shock. Reaching 69% shock effect means you must be close to 250% increased magnitude of Shocks. ....but I'm posted while tired, so I might be overlooking or misreading something. |

Yep I did the same mistake of posting while tired, you're right, I did have PoE 1's shock in mind. So much for overstacking crit dmg :P Let's hope PoB sheds some more light when it's out. o/
