Multiple portals or not (PoE 2)

In the interview on 1/12/25 it was expressed that they didn't want to do multiple portals due to exploitation of dying intentionally to farm the map before completing it.

I feel like this could be solved if they don't let the map reset on death. So if there would be a 6 portal system to give multiple attempts instead of resetting the entire instance you just reset the boss in that map. Essentially you despawn the boss and then have it respawn if the boss did not die.


This will also give us the chance to loot the items if it was a close call and both you and the boss died at the same time. It's insult to injury when you die right as the boss dies and you can't go back to loot the divine orb that dropped as well as that unique due to instance reset when you die.

I feel like this would be easier on the player and give us a chance to learn the boss for those who are not running a one shot build. I enjoy doing mechanics but if you want me to learn them then give me the chance to do so and make a 1 portal mechanic as part of the map modifiers to give more loot chance/drops. I feel like making the 1 portal mechanic as a map/tablet modifier would be a reasonable middle ground for both sides.

6 Portal system should have been on day 1. GGG is just wasting everyone's time for something people will demand before the game releases, why wait.
It's not a bad idea, but I feel like having more than 2 attempts for a normal map would be way too much.

If players that make it to endgame need 6 lives then either they are bad or the game is balanced like shit. In either case the 6 lives is a band-aid fix for something else.

You are not people man.
I mean, you are... And there are so many of you...

But you do not get the idea, that this is not for you.

This one-portal gig is about the top players.

It brings element of the game, where you do something stupid and you pay for it.
A challenge. Another element to consider.

Sure it screws so many people. Some of them cannot sustain their way stones for god sake. Perma-dead.

But lets be honest. Those people are getting SCREWED one way or another.
If it is not X, it will be Y. If not Y, then Z.

Some will learn and adapt, some will leave the game.
But this will happen regardless of how many portals we have.

And I really like challenge. And I know there are others like me, maybe not that as many, but we are technically still "people".

And the "math" behind builds, the "one portal", etc... everything is for us. Not for those you call people.

It is a vision for a game. You go with the vision, or you play something else.
Demands will get "people" nowhere.

Oh, that's rich coming from someone who thinks beating the Sekhema trials is too complicated and demand them to be completely removed from the game.
6 portals should have been in the EA from launch. This was just wrong call from GGG. And maybe we should also remind them that even SOULS LIKE games like Elden Ring gives you a chance to get your XP back. Imagine...
If they don't like 6 portals, then give us 3 or 2 just give us more than one try for the maps, it can't be that damn hard.
A suggested in another post:

For every (or every second/third/fourth/...) Tx map you complete deathless, you should get a non-tradable (but 3:1 reforgable) resurrect for a map of the same tier you can then apply when you need/want. That way you need to be generally able to run maps of that tier, but you can put some of your previous success "in the bank", so to speak.

Of course you should lose all XP you got from that map (not 10%) and all previous mobs should be resurrected to full health but without the ability to drop any further loot. I'd also suggest you lose all your non-equipped items you had on you and you have to get to your corpse to get it back.
