Breach is a terrible map mechanic
Breach is a terrible map mechanic for this game.
It goes pretty much against everything this game was advertised to be. Breach incentivises: * having the fastest clearspeed possible * having the fastest movement speed possible Which is essentially the PoE1 gameplay style. It is a hard DPS check. Can't pass the check? You get overwhelmed and die. Can't clear fast enough? The breach ends. Most of the game doesn't have any DPS checks, and you can kill any boss or clear any content regardless of how much time it takes, but not with Breach. You might say - its just an optional content, don't run it if you can't. Well, Breach also happens to be the absolute best way to get more items and currency from your maps, by a huge margin. Nothing comes even close, other than trading. So any build not capable of clearing highest tier maps with Breach, that are affected by multiple towers, will be at an enormous disadvantage. All this heavily reduces build diversity and viability. Increasing Field of View in PoE: /1236921 Last bumped on Jan 13, 2025, 5:39:03 AM

" Good morning my friend. Today I did two 10 breach maps. On top of 12 divines (divided between 3 people) I got from 91 to 92. I think I have a solution to this mechanic. Wait for it... Warrior and mace nerfs. I feel like 15 sec auto attack and skill windup seems reasonable. Combined with movement speed penalty of -10% and LESS AREA. Do not ask me why, it just seems the right choice. And I think the GGG smart heads will approve it. |

I mostly agree with you.
Breach is WAY above the other map events in EXP, Loot. Also is fast to do, not like expedition event. And as you said, forces all players to focus on Breach and make your build viable for it, otherwise you will be weighing yourself down. I guess they will balance the events to be on par with Breach to have more choices. Also we all expect to get more variety of events on the future with the consequent balancing so I think the play here is let them make the obvius changes (I hope). But is always good to point it out because yes, right now Breach too good to let it slide. Last edited by Zinfé#3237 on Jan 13, 2025, 3:40:06 AM

They said in interview they know breach is a bit silly and the other endgame events are not providing the level of gains intended and that comes from the endgame getting rushed out the door, and that this will be addressed in a future balance patch

" Just like in PoE1 every mechanic favors different builds it so happens that for Breach you need fast clear. Is that bad? In general PoE always had different builds being better for different type of content, that's why you do what you like. If you need an item from the content you don't do you just buy it and sell the items from the content you farm. Simple supply & demand. If you want to farm it change your build. " Yes, extremely so. And I already explained why. Any build not capable of clearing Breach on highest tier maps would fall extremely far behind those who are capable. I am talking about getting anywhere from 5 to 10 times less currency/items in the same amount of time played. " So yeah, that's my point. You're advising people to change their build to not fall behind those who don't need to do that and can already clear Breach maps. Being or not being able to do a specific map mechanic shouldn't influence the game so much. Increasing Field of View in PoE: /1236921 Last edited by Shajirr#2980 on Jan 13, 2025, 4:55:52 AM

You forget it's also PC check. You have potato PC - okay, you can play PoE2 on acceptable framerate most of the time, but during the Breach you will see a slideshow :D
