POE2 - Azarian Battle

I died from the scorching floor at the end of the Azarian fight, but he was killed by my Essence Drain spell and dropped all of his items. I immediately respawned at the checkpoint and went back to the room, but all of the items were gone. Azarian was laying dead on the floor, but the pre-battle dialogue still played.

Well this is a lot worse than I thought, because after interacting with the Water Goddess I am locked in the room and have absolutely no way to escape. Please tell me there is a way to fix this and I don't have to start all over.

EDIT: Miraculously, my home portal started working after restarting so I was able to get out.
