Trial of Sekehmas bizzarely unforgiving toward melee/tanky
I am playing early access and generally enjoying it alot. Then I arrive at my first ascendancy chance and I am completely baffled. How was this imagined to not troll melee characters?
I don't have anything to say that hasn't been said already about this glaring design decision, but this forum is entitled "feedback" so here's my vote. Last bumped on Jan 11, 2025, 10:30:31 AM

They made it so melee hits lose less honor.
But it's never going to work right for melee. I just find it too tedious. If you think it's bad for your first points , you don't want to know that you have to do three floors to get your third set of points... Where is Izaro when you need him... I'm starting to think chaos might be easier but that's also tedious in different ways. Unless they made it that strikes / slams restore honor. But that will never happen. Too many afflictions / RNG. Basically ascendancy= RNG chance of getting non terrible maluses. |

The melee reduction helps in nothing when the enemy firing at you is still far away.. but you are easily hit since you cannot run away.. you are running to FACE the enemy.
The reduction should apply for when you have a melee weapon equiped.... |

If it matters I do think they set up things so that at least the first 3 ascension levels are reasonably doable by [slow] tanky builds.
I consider myself a "low skill" player when it comes to mechanics like Sanctum [Sekhemas]. However the ability to farm relics and target mods like Honor Resistance, Extra max Honor, More honor restored, more move speed, more "water", etc. on relics was a game saver. I could farm low level Sanctums, get a decent batch of relics, complete a sanctum and move to higher level Sanctums. If memory serves once I farmed up a good number of decent relics my [slow A.F.] Warrior build only took 2 or 3 times to get through the 3rd floor. I think the key is I had enough water, found a merchant, and bought a 25% move speed boon. Oddly I had afflictions like no ES, no evasion, and no armor BUT my move speed and other boons compensated more than enough so when I completed the 3rd ascension trial I had plenty of honor left over. NOTE: I haven't tried the 4-floor ascension trial. I think the move speed slowdown would be oppressive unless relics [gear??] negated a ton of the move and/or action speed nerfs you get during one of the 4th floor boss phases. " Unfortunately the solution to dealing with a terrible, unenjoyable part of the game is to do more of the terrible, unenjoyable content, all of which is external to the rest of the game. And particularly on the 3rd and 4th floor you are highly reliant on the luck of the draw regarding which boons and afflictions you will be offered. Often you will lose all time invested in the run merely from bad luck. |
