its not trade systems job to protect clueless people from making bad trades. if somebody gets knowledge about item values he should be able to profit from this knowledge. otherwise learning about these things would have no benefit.

That is not the reality of how trading systems work.

Like - for example what do you think the SEC exists for? What does FINRA do?

So yes, trade systems in the real world are in fact designed to prevent 'clueless people' from being abused. How effective that is isn't the point - but your argument is not based on reality.

No state financial oversight institution protects consumers from making bad trades. If we were to transpose their purpose into PoE they would probably keep an eye if GGG employees aren't trading.

You have to put it into context of the thread - specifically that the trading system is not accurately representing the value of the assets used to trade.

This isn't a case of you making a bad trade.

It's a case of misrepresenting the value of the trade.

If I tell you that I'll sell you NVDA for what I claim to be the equivalent for $100 but it turns out that you actually traded it for the equivalent for $150, I have in fact defrauded you.

The trading system is not responsible for the values going up and down after, but it absolutely IS responsible for ensuring fair trade.

Edit: I actually don't really care if GGG does or doesn't do this. I certainly do not think it's necessary in this game, but I am clearly triggered by the claims of what trading systems are responsible for.

By all means, knock yourself out Pl4t1num. But it's feedback for devs.

Discussing your feedback gives insight. Is this a popular request? What do the players think are the pros and cons? Is the thread getting traction? Do some players have arguments that the devs haven't considered? Are player passionate about this topic?

A discussion ALWAYS gives more value than one person's feedback, as long as the thread doesn't get toxic within the first page, which some threads have a tendency to do in here.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

And yet you chose to post it in a place which very name is drawn from an ancient type of place where people discussed, with such intended function.
You could have written an email to GGG, yet you decided to share it on a public forum. It also leaves pretty bad taste in the mouth, you not even attempting to debate on a point but expressing desire that anyone who disagrees with you should just shut up.

I perhaps was not clear. I don't care if people want to discuss the value of the suggestion, it just bumps it. But without being themselves devs or authorized in any capacity to provide the official opinions of the devs on the suggestion, which I don't think anyone here yet is? I'm providing feedback for devs. Replying to what I said with a counter opinion is totally acceptable but I already knew what I wanted and why. The post wasn't "what do players think about x?" My intent was feedback for devs. Just figured it might save people some time. Discuss away.

I didn't say anyone should shut up. I said it was feedback for devs. Meaning, that I as the OP wasn't interested in discussing my feedback with other people. My intent is to provide feedback for devs.
