Save/Pause Game?
understandable wish, but... this game just works differently, you have to deal with it, it's not THAT annoying.
I've seen a couple of offline games (PC, PS2, XBox) where you have some "savepoints" to save your progress. Everything inbetween is lost if you die or leave. Same here. I tend to "collect" waypoints as soon as possible, for example in the mud-flats or prisoners gate, they are always right at the starting entrance of the map... Dynamit,

Yeah i try to collect them asap too. It's very nice if they are at the start of area, and i think they always should be. But sometimes, i got to map away 2 maps from waypoint like ship grevyard i think and i couldnt find waypoint and i had to quit the game, could leave afk but was afraid my character would die so i just logged off bearing in mind that i will have to repeat same content again + it will be randomized so it won't be so easy as going the same again. As i said before its not completely useless cause i'll get exp items etc but still kinda dumb...

Would be nice, if when playing solo, ESC would pause the game. I didn't realize this didn't work and thought I had paused the game, when I came back in the room I was getting beat down and was barely able to heal and kill the things that were creeping on me. Oh well. Didn't die, learned to hide in a corner when I step away. But it would be nice to pause for those times when you gotta go and you don't have time to find a safe place.

Yeah in those instances it would be nice too, but you can make a teleport and hide in town if you're gonna be back quickly. It dissapears after 15 mins right? But if you have to afk for long or smth... then no way but to log out and get teleported back in to town. Btw since its 'free' to get back to town by logging out and logging in there should be option to 'recall' to quickly get back to town, since thats the same as when u log out and in but without a hassle.

It would be really nice if you log out with a town portal open, for the game to save the random seed used to generate the instance that the portal was made in, along with all the changes made to the instance state, so that when you log in again, the instance and portal can be restored. (While allowing it to be stored on disk and unloaded from server memory until you next log in, or up to some time limit after which you're not likely to remember that you had a portal open anyway.)
I'm not sure how large that data actually is though. Presumably they ought to already have some reasonably compact representation in memory of the instance state, given the number of concurrent users and instances which are likely active at any given time. |
