That would be boring imho.
What about making towers more interesting at the same time? Add optional boss to towers. If you defeat it, you get a hint at where the next citadel is. The hint is some sort of compass needle appearing over the tower. This way you can triangulate the position of citadels. Clearing a corrupted tower should not only show a general direction but a "ping" on the map outlining a region where a citadel is to be found. Clearing 3 corrupted towers fully triangulates the exact position and reveals it on the map. What do you think? |

I would be also okay with making towers behave like normal maps in this regard which means you have to clear out all the rare mobs to receive the hint. Simply rushing to the roof and activate the beacon is, again, boring. |

The main problem with poe2s towers is their anti-magic coating, my minions don´t like them and casting inside of them has its issues accompanied by pavilions that provide tiny pillars which can block alot, accompanied by a clear terrainadvantage for the monsters.
Therefore its often benefitial to run "useless" maps in boring lowtier, just for the thing called "completion/progress". I think they made a whole game (Tyranny) several years ago about such terraforming towers, they are powered by a magical network which can be charged. One Spell for example could be to nuke a map for autocompleting it. Another to change the very background of a bigger area to "desert". Some nasty curse to spawn corruption on a node, after all we are in control of the tower. Build a harbor to establish a shippingroute to one of those exiled Seers. ....
