Scavenged Plating Redesign Suggestion
Here is a redesign concept for Scavenged Plating. Rather than gaining "x% More Armour" with each stack, make it so that each stack of Scavenged Plating instead provides Guard based on the character's armor. Essentially combining the current design with Molten Shell from POE1. Alternatively, this is an armour version of Ghost Shrouds.
There are a lot of variables to how this could be designed, but my concept would be as follows: - Gaining a stack refreshes the duration of all stacks. - A stack is removed on hit - The value of the guard is NOT based on the number of stacks. One stack will provide the same Guard as 10 stacks, however 10 stacks can apply that Guard for 10 hits. If the Thorns aspect is maintained it should align with the guard. One stack will provide the same Thorns as 10 stacks. This redesign gives an "ablative plating" feel that I think matches the original design while also providing more general survivability, shoring up one of the weaknesses of armour stacking characters. Sort of like the ice shards aura?

I think keeping it just stacking armour is for the best to keep it armour only. But it could definitely use a different mode to stack it. Even just working like Wind Dancer would be better than requiring armour break. I'm not even playing armour break and it still forces you to use splinter on every build pretty much.

At the bare minimum the stacks shouldn't have separate duration's. You have to break an enemies armour 10 times in 8 seconds by default to maintain maximum stacks which is absurd for boss fights.

or make it stack hp, like grim feast, but for melee classes

" You decided to make it an order of magnitude worse? Then it will become a completely useless thing for close combat. Especially on bosses. I'll go and suggest my version https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3698523. Last edited by nameforgame#6011 on Jan 17, 2025, 10:33:00 AM
