I wish we could have infinite attempts on map bosses and any other major bosses.
There are so many cool boss fights in the endgame and it feels so bad to have only one chance. Map, citadel, breach, obelisk, etc. bosses should really let you have infinite tries. Like if you die in the boss area you should be able to respawn right there and not be able to continue with the map unless you beat the boss or give up. It makes no sense to have to grind forever for all these breach splinters and stuff or find the extremely rare citadels just to get a single chance at the boss. This is one thing that is so incredibly offputting and I wish you would change it. Last bumped on Jan 10, 2025, 6:09:58 AM

Please not. They should just get back to the 6 Portals/Tries like in PoE1. Still hard, but not a gift to anyone that enters a boss fight.
If you fail, u should get punished. It feels like the current implementation of only 1 try eradicates a lot of builds. Everyone goes for one-shot boss builds, cause no one wants to loose his single try. |

I'm sure endgame boss fights will be reworked somehow. Because currently fighting bosses doesn't take even 5% of playtime, and they aimed at 25% or even higher.

Thats another problem, there are not enough boss fights in endgame. I wish every map had a boss, this would also eliminate the problem with map sustain in the early endgame.
If you are struggling getting breach splinters, then your either really early in the endgame or you got a inefficent build. Later in the game you get easily 20+ breach splinters in every single breach, if u got a proper build. In one 10-breach map i got 400 splinters... |

If every map had a boss the boss would drop less loot (because they are more common), making them not useful for map sustain. There would also be more whining about how hard the bosses are, so the fights will get even easier.

" But in PoE 1 the bosses didn't fully recover, so you could use the 6 portals to kill the boss in up to 6 chunks. In PoE 2 that strategy wouldn't work, even with endless portals. Either your build is up to it and you are able to learn the boss, or you don't, but it's not a "gift", it's a reasonable way to honor the work you put in to get to the boss and would motivate a much higher number of players to actually participate. Quite frankly, if the endgame stays that way I wouldn't waste any time farming splinters or looking for the citadels. That's an endgame for masochists and people who don't have a life. I'd maybe level the char to 90 and then call it quits... |

@Valsacar: i dont see a problem in reducing the amount of drops on a boss then, i dont need 6-8 maps dropping everytime. For sustain 100% chance of 1-2 would be enough.
But you are probably true about the whining... @C4Guy: yea they didn't recover, but i don't see the necessity to that in PoE2. Tries would be enough (atleast for me). When i died, it was always stupidity, bugs (awesome infinity hands @xesht, luckily fixed) or RL interruptions. Another try would be quite helpful. Currently it feels like they are loosing a lot of player's that reach endgame, cause of the 1-try, xp loss (that could be decreased in the beginning, and then increase with higher level?) and the general grind. Citadel grind is exhausting and should be reworked, i've seen around 10 so far and i've played a lot. Breach Splinters come by themself, cause breach farming is one of the most efficient currency grinds right now. |

I don't think regular map bosses require more than one portal but it would definitely feel fairer, and give players a chance to learn boss mechanics properly without undue punishment, if Citadels and Pinnacles had six portals and the bosses fully recover if you die/exit and reenter.

There are so many vectors of bad right now it is not really easy to figure out what actually is the root problem.
You feel like you want infinite attempts. But what if bosses are everywhere, in every map (of course in a purely assumptive way). What if splinters are easy to get and you only need 1 to attempt a boss. Now suddenly infinite attempts aren’t as attractive as it was. What if boss never one shot. Like in WoW where you clearly have to make huge mistakes multiple times to reach a state where you cannot get back up from it. Now it suddenly feels like all fails are deserved. What if more defense layers are now added back to the game for us to choose, like in poe1. There so many so easily ways to bump up defenses and the player chose not to. Now it suddenly becomes a gitgud situation. |
