Blink and movement
I've enjoyed the game more since I've unlocked blink, and I think that some mobility is really necessary for me to enjoy the game in the long term, but it's also frustrating because of its problems and all the way it could be better. So here are some suggestions, some of which have already been suggested.
- Make it a proper spell instead of a replacement for roll and increase its distance, so that its a proper mobility spell, or reduce its cd drastically so that it is a proper upgrade to dodge - Increase its distance - Blink on cursor and not always at max range - Don't automatically move straight after blink if there isn't an ongoing move command, that feels very bad when trying to dodge trap - Allow jumping over walls. Of course this would be op in the trap rooms of the trial, but there must be a solution, maybe special blink-unpassable walls, or you can even entirely disable blink there if necessary. It is really fun, and that's true in most games and satisfying to optimize map travel with jumps and blinks, so i h - Reduce its CD, or give more ways to lower its cd for those of us who like mobility but can't after a temporalis, which seems to be the only (and op) option to do buff blink - Makes it so that it doesn't cost mana under archmage (and same for temporal rift and other non-damaging spells). It feels very bad, especially in conjunction with mind over matter which is goes well with archmage, to not be able to use neither escape spell nor dodge when you get in a bad situation. Of course that's independent from other necessary nerfs to archmage. Alternatively, any chance for a rune that makes lightning conduit free-target, with a 3s cd if it does not cull an enemy or something? Last bumped on Jan 7, 2025, 8:52:41 AM

I feel Blink should be way more accessible. Not spirit based but mana based. I'm playing a sorceress and can't really justify picking blink over either archmage or persistent exposure curse and frost armor or raging spirits. I also feel lvl 14 spirit gem is way too high for a movement skill, when warriors can pick leaping slam with - I believe - lvl 8 regular skill gem. Though I admit blink's i-frames make it more powerful, so the mana cost should reflect that.

I'm not sure if we're at a point in the game where we want to be buffing Blink.
I think it all goes back to what sort of vision / game that GGG wants to have. Depending on that vision a buffed Blink [PoE1 Flame Dash, Lightning Warp, etc.] may simply not be intended to be on the menu. As for access to Blink I would think investing more heavily into Spirit might be the way to go as opposed to [for a sorceress] getting an even greater advantage over builds that have even higher barriers to using Blink. |
