Rare Minion Explosion on Death

Simply Why? This is such a bullshit mechanic.
Why is it not enough to kill a rare mob?

Beside the loss of XP (if not HC) i loose the loot i was going for and the map..

I cant understand how this can have any positive effect on the gameplay..
