Character is stuck in Trial of Chaos

I cleared the first area of Trials of Chaos. There is only one mob left, but I can't reach it. It's some meters above me, and I can't click the lever for the escalator. I am melee only so far. No town portals allowed there, so the whole char is bricked now?
