Currency drop chances in multiplayer is anything but fair/balanced.

I am playing with a friend and it is just hte 2 of us. It is normal that some days one of us gets more currency then the other... level 70 I got 12 exalted orbs from drops... he got 48 so far. I am not going to go into the other currencies because it is pretty much the same ration. We just finished a map where he got 3 regal 3 exalted and 1 unique map... i got an alchemy orb. Where the FUCK is the balance in this game?! Why is it feeling so unrewarding to play it ? From trash unique items that barely drop to trash yellow items that barely drop to trash currency drop rates... through and through the game feels 100% unrewarding and punishing for no apparent reason! You PUNISH people for playing instead of rewarding them.

Sounds like you may have substantially less IR on your gear than your friend.

Nah the randomness on how it assigns currency is definitely way off. While leveling with a group of friends I'd see a substantial amount of currency drop. Great! ..well someone would almost always lose out. Me. Who had the highest item rarity out of the lot and would often be the one to last hit things.

Other times it would be reversed with one or two of the people in the group seeing almost no loot allocated to them. This system could definitely use some refinement.

That said: easy enough to fix long as you are playing with friends. Just an added step of throwing some currency and/or items to the ones that didn't get much that run.

I stopped playing with my friend because apparently the loot goes to the one dealing the final blow (can someone confirm this? Both my POE1 vets told me so, I am new to POE). His totems would always get some damage on even when I did the majority.

My friend has 0 rarity, I have 150% but still, playing solo or with him is like day and night. Solo I get at least 1-2 ex plus other stuff per map, with him I've got 1 ex every 3 maps or so (on my juiced maps).

Map owner can control how drops get allocated. Default is short allocation I believe, so game decides who gets it (last damage sounds likely, and it definitely uses rarity of the character killing for drops) and if not picked up in a short period of time then to goes open to all.

Some items are permanently allocated to the owner of the waystone (party lead). Assuming it's the same as POE1, that would include all waystone drops.

Generally what happens in party play (outside of public parties) is those partying know each other and aren't dicks, so they split loot at the end.

I ammm... i can't take this comment to seriously. You do realize that what you are implying is having something like 300+ % of IR right? I don't even know how getting that high IR would be possible in general and no I can 100% assure you that he does not have any IR ... maybe somewhere along the way at some point there were some items with something like 10-20% on his or mine side but this is hardly explaining the huge gap in the loot.

From my personal experience... We are playing on default map distribution so nothing special there. The loot is 100% not being distributed based on who gets the most units hit or the most dmg done or the one who does the killing blow because that is 100% me. My friend is playing with summons who do low damage i am annihilating everything in our path more often than not. His adds are very useful on most boss fights and on tanking while i kill stuff from behind. Unless the loot drops for the person who takes damage the most aka his summons I don't think there is a snowball chance in hell that he is doing more damage then me or that he is hitting more mobs than me and this isn't my ego talking he 100% agrees with this assessment.

The issue is not the fact that he won't offer or share the loot... the issue is how unfair the loot distribution is in general. I can accept it being a thing that happened one or two days of gameplay but this stuff happens all the freaking time on normal campaign maps or whatever. We tried switching leadership positions invites and other stuff but there is no change at all and even if somehow this was bad luck this would be the worst luck in the history of my life since we have been playing games for 2 DECADES! This is the first time I see so much 'bad luck' for such a long period of time. I really got enraged today on that fucking map where he got 3 regals and 3 exalts (angry at the game not at him) because the yellow drops are with horrible stats I still wear gear that I found at level 20-30 and so is he btw no good items drop in general (We had 4 good drops so far... IN TOTAL!) considering that I keep on checking the shop in the last city we are in on every level and doing whatever I can to make sure I don't miss any good items... and all I see is trash items and trash mechanics. I don't mind grinding... I mind not feeling rewarded after literal hours of playing where my main viable source of items is trading with currency which apparently doesn't even drop for me....

If the item drops are horrible (which they are) and the currency drop rates are horrible (Which they are) I have to ask myself what isn't horrible in this whole gaming experience? I don't think this is just me as well but hey I could be wrong about that ....

no thats not true. the loot is supposed to be allocated somewhat evenly between the players.

what matters in regards to who got the killing blow is item rarity, it will take the item rarity of the player who killed the monster. so if one player has massive item rarity they are advised to use some form of culling strike skill to guarantee their rarity is applying to the mobs.

hence the term "mf culler" meaning a person in the party with stacked magic find who can cull the mobs so the group can get the benefits of their item rarity.

regarding loot allocation fairness, if its this far off they definitely need to look at it.

i dont know personally because i always group with my mrs and one of my best friends and the 3 of us have no loot allocation, its completely free for all. sometimes we snatch at items and currency then call each other horrible names and laugh in peoples faces, other times you know youve nabbed the last 3 exalts and you just leave the next few. if anyone needs an exalt or a regal or whatever then someone who has one will give it to them, if a unique or rare drops and its perfect for someone we will give it to them.

i dunno, i know not all friend groups can act like this. i just think free for all loot is way more efficient, leads to way more fun and antics. i think perm allocation is just a bit stale and dead, and just inefficient. if im close to a drop i pick it up.

I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Is this brand new or old poe1 account?

I have exactly same issue. I got like 50 exalt drops in 150hrs and my mate with 170hrs has almost 1000 exalts and 10 divines. He runs 0 MF mostly while i tried -150. Currently 90ish..did 20+ solo t14+ maps yesterday and all i got was regal shards, 1 transmutation orb.

Read another post of another user with similar issues...he created a new account and got more drops in 1 act than he did in 100+ hours of his original account.
