Poe2 killed my GPU
" It really isn't. Least not the level you want. Trust me. I've been building PCs since like 1993 back when you could accidentally just OC a little too far and pop there it goes. There's many hardware level safety features now which prevent temp or OC problems to an extent. Not to get too far into it but the more you OC the more voltage until it just can't be sustained anymore. You won't fry it though. I've seen a few threads here too of players complaining about 100c CPU temps. That's either faulty cooling or something that isn't quite their fault. Motherboard manufacturers set their boards by default to let the CPU have as much voltage as it wants. Which is not good practice. Somehow we went back to the mid 90's and you want to manually set your clocks and voltage. Out of curiosity. Was your GPU an EGVA 3090? " And that's exactly the problem: The company didn't test it under several hours of high stress. If they really did a test, they very likely only did a benchmark. That takes some minutes. If the benchmark runs, they say it's okay. What they can't test with this, how the GPU holds up under long term usage, which is VERY different compared to just doing one small benchmark. Let me give you an example: You are an ice cream tester. The ice cream manufacturer says "our ice doesnt melt in sun". Now you go, buy the ice cream and hold it one minute under the sun. You will see no change and now say "Indeed, the icecream doesn't melt under the sun within that 1 minute". Next day, a customer comes, buys the icecream and after 5 minutes in the sun, it starts melting. Even though you tested the ice, you didn't test it under normal circumstances. And this example can be applied on your GPU as well. A 10 minute high-stress test may not melt some parts of your GPU, but using it for several hours every day may melt your hardware, until something essential breaks. And a game does not do this on its own, your GPU must have had a defect already. It's simple as that. And that's the reason why you got a replacement without any problems. Because manufacturers know that this can happen. If software would be the main cause for destroyed GPUs, GPUs would have very different warranty conditions. " except we have consumer laws for a reason. things are tested and you're just talking out your ass. lots of things have already happened with a basic internet search lmao but sure you build COMPUTERS not test cpu before they hit the market. |

" See my post above. No company will test hardware over several days before shipping the pc or components out. |

hey OP! I am sorry for your fried gpu and disgusted by the community here once again.
Has anyone ever tried to restrict PoE to a limited number of cores to use? I can tell you, it is tricky. And I can imagine, it is the same with the gpu. I had help by a it-guy and he couldn't explain, why the game kept using all the cores my pc had to offer (and constantly overheating the whole system while doing so) no matter, what sudo-sudo-things he did. Problem that results is, that the better your pc is, the more overheating you get, bc the game has more cores to use. I ended up playing it on an older pc, lol. Telling this,as said, bc I can imagine, the game does the same with restrictions set to the gpu. just my 2 cent. Last edited by PaxDeSilva#6792 on Jan 6, 2025, 2:28:33 PM

" If your system overheats when all cores are at 100%, you have a cooling problem. If your GPU overheats at 100% at full load, you have a cooling problem. crypto rigs ran GPUs and CPU (for monero) at 100% for YEARS without issues. If your pc can't run at 100% for hours, days, weeks, months - it's a problem with your PC. The End. Last edited by Mordgier#6997 on Jan 6, 2025, 2:36:54 PM

" You also said it was the first/only game played on the system. 100 hours of mundane use has ZERO meaning if that's the case. The game saved you from finding out you had a bad GPU before it was too late. If anything you should be thankful... |

" They litterally tested it before they sent it out to me. So it was good when I got it, it was good for 100+ hours playing in. And then poe froze my computer and then it wasn't good anymore. So what's the cause? Still the GPU and not a poorly performing Game? |

" Bro builds pc as hobby and just admitted openly he won't even test the stuff he builds and cause he's actively scamming people all other company's that build pcs also do the same. Gotta be a troll ngl |
