Poor FPS performance

Every other game that I play I can play on Ultra settings. I have rtx 4080 and if I try breach or mirror my fps drops too almost unplayable. I don't have this issue in POE1. I would appreciate any help with settings or suggestions thank you

Some packsize + breach + 3 deli "orbs" with packsize + HH. In result I have solid, well optimized 20 fps gameplay. This game was made to make money on release (sorry "beta acess" ^_^) nothing else. No one idea how they are going to fix optimisation. Performance HAS to be about at least 3 times better (hahahahah I don't think it is possible) to reach 60 fps (2025 60 fps yea).

yup even on my system I'd say I have a higher end rig, the game dips to below 50 fps a lot. and thats with not a shit load going on. just doing a standard breach map.

the gpu may be able to handle that, but can the rest of your hardware? if your CPU cant feed your GPU fast enough than your GPU no matter how powerful it is will not be able to reach full potential, same goes for Ram, they also have speed and that is not the only thing, they also has timings. and your hard drive can also be a bottleneck, so if you dont have an Nvme, than perhaps you might wanna get one

now if you got a good cpu too, have you checked your actual temps on those parts, your pc might just be thermal throttling

that is not to say the game is operating flawlessly because it is far from perfect or optimized
I had to turn off Global Ilumination to stabilize my FPS.

Something is realy broken with this option as it worked perfectly fine in PoE 1.
Indeed the rendering could use some optimization ! especially the particle effects !

But still, with the right options you can manage to play the game decently! I play an infernalist with up to 55 minions! I have a lower rig than yours (Ryzen 9600x and an RTX 4060) and I still have a steady 60 FPS.

Here are the options:
- Activate Dynamic resolution
- Upscale mode: Nvidia DLSS
- Max Image quality : Quality (in your case you can maybe set it to Nvidia DLAA)
- Lighting : Shadows + Global illumination (without GI the terrain feel flat! but if the FPS is still low then GI need to be removed)
- Shadow + GI quality : Low (here we gain some FPS)
- Number of lights : Low (we gain more FPS here too!)
- Activate triple buffering (for FPS stability)
- Activate Dynamic culling
- make sure Engine multithreading is on !

Of course this works in solo! If I join a group (especially if there is another infernalist) the GPU can't handle it anymore! the textures start even flickering when things heat up!

So...your CPU was released just in Q3 2024 and you have an RTX 4060.
You need to set your options to Low to have 60 fps?

I hope for GGG that the first mega patch is to improve performance.

Yes I know! the real solution is to use the Ryzen 4070 ! (Internet meme joke!)

Joke aside, you are right, and as I said the rendering engine could use a lot of optimization, but this require a lot of coding/testing which require a lot of time! we won't see this anytime soon! The devs decided to have pretty graphics and that is paid with GPU performance! All we can do now is to play with the options to get decent performance! What is saving my FPS is the Dynamic Resolution/DLSS this technology is fantastic!

Also, the performance can be slightly better because I'm not fully using my CPU, POE2 has a more serious problem: PC Freeze at launch !
To solve this I had to set my CPU affinity and deactivate one core! for anyone having the same issue I have posted how to do that in this thread:
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3596176/page/3

Welcome to early acces I guess! I think this early acces will extend to at least 6 months or maybe a year, I hope in this time span most of these problems will be solved!
