That is to say, do elemental damage nodes effect chaos damage, such as from poison arrow?

No, only fire, cold, and lightning are elemental.

Above poster is correct that it is not elemental damage, but I believe spell damage % nodes affect chaos damage.

It IS very confusing:
* It is listed as part of elemental resistances on the marauder side (2x +3% nodes), as if it was a fourth resistance type. * It is called "poison" in the skill Poison Arrow, even though people say "it's not like poison". But then people in chat say it's "not like poison" because "it bypasses energy shield". So? Couldn't poison also bypass energy shield? What game are they referring to in those assumptions? I knew, but its not like I know everything. For instance I suck at crafting, but then again how do I know I suck at crafting? Its completely random.

I think a lot of the confusion, and people calling it poison, is also a carry over from Diablo 2. There, it was actually called poi...I'm gonna shut up, because most people here have played D2, and know what I'm talking about. =P
