Monetization in POE2
I am rather new to POE and I had no idea what to expect from the MTX, however, after learning a few things about how things worked in POE1 -- I am a little worried about POE2. I am someone that has played ESO for 10 years (recently quit) and I know what heavy/aggressive monetization means and it's part of why I quit that game.
From what I see POE has core packs that run for like a year, then seasonal packs, season pass (30$), Loot Crates (will probably hate those), and the usual stuff we see in the store. Did I miss anything? Anyway, for someone like me that loves cosmetics and sometimes can't help himself, it may be a bit of a problem. I would be fine if the prices were lower, but almost everything is so damn expensive in the store, I can't see myself surviving POE2 in this economy. Hyperbole aside, I am aware that this is going to be a free game, but even then -- I find the monetization to be a little too much. Maybe it's just me, so I'd like to see what others think. All you need is $50 worth of tabs, the rest is just cosmetics that can actually make the game worse.

I think GGG, and specifically PoE1, has some of the most ethical monetization available in a f2p game. I have no reason to think PoE2 will be any different.
And there is no $30 season pass. Early Access is $30 but when the game releases in full it will be free. |

" I mean aggressive monetization is defenitly a little over the top here. You basically wont even see cosmetics unless you open the shop manually. Everything exept stash tabs is completly optional. If you have a personal problem with spending money, i would buy all the stash tabs that i need and then try to contact ggg maybe to lock you out of further purchases?! I dont know if they can do that but yeah...you are basically complaining about a free silver rolex, doesnt matter if they charge 50k to change it to gold, the silver one is still free. |

I'm new also and I haven't seen any kind of heavy/aggressive monetization or anything of that sort in general. Far from it.
I just dinged 92 level and I just recently bought a pack of extra tabs ( the currency etc stuff ) and an outfit that I liked for my monk since I had all those coins from my supporter pack, but nothing and nowhere in the meantime up to now has "forced" me into the shop. Up to now I was rolling with everything "default" and it was fine, I just thought it was time for me to finally be "professional" about it haha. No popups, no welcome screens of "hey we also have this", nothing in regards to any of those at all. It might as well be the first time in a game that I was trying to find which is the darn shortcut for the shop so I can scroll through in curiosity of what it has, so kudos to the team for that. " It's not that bad, I was being hyperbolic, but yeah -- I do love my cosmetics, especially armor. I especially hope that the system to copy looks for armor won't be the same as POE1, that shit was atrocious. I mean, I know it's not 'that kind of game' but some tiny focus on character customization would be nice, outside of MTX armor etc. that is. People care for that, especially the new crowd unfamiliar with POE and its ways. " Talking about Kirac's Vault Pass. |

" All you ever need is the stash tabs. You can ignore all the junk in the shop otherwise. But as you say you come from ESO and dislike the monetisation there, your problem might be more cosmetic. ESO store is mostly cosmetic, clothes, recoloured mounts, and other "cool" items, that no one actually needs. The "cool" clothes in POE are also mostly in the store. It is nothing anyone needs, no advantages given, so I don't see this as aggressive monetisation. You can play the full game without buying anything but the stash tabs, and they cost less than buying another game. |

" Kirac's vault pass is about as needed as a cat with two tails. The things that are really relevant to the game are on the free track. The rest is cosmetics. Nothing that will help you in any shape or form. |

I really hope they add loot pets to poe2, at least the game would finally have something poe1 didn't

I would say the game is on the expensive side when it comes to MTX, but all you really need are the currency/stash tabs, if you buy one supporter pack which is the price of a game you're set for life.
