Rambling about accuracy and spells

I have wondered this many times when playing ARPG genre and again in poe 2.

Why don't spell need any kind of accuracy (or what ever it's called in other games) and attacks do?

It has always been kinda funny and hasn't made sense to me that you can miss an arrow or a swing of a mace, but a spell like fireball is guaranteed to hit... are they like homing missiles or something?

Of course monsters can walk away from it or you can shoot a projectile in the wrong direction, but that's the same for melee/bow/crossbow attacks, just wanted to clarify it here that i do understand that :D.

I do understand that you wanna make some sort of problem to solve for builds in games and usually it's that attacks require accuracy and spells mana regeneration. I also know that attacks usually get some sort of leech to make mana issue almost irrelevant and spellcasters don't have this, but in current version of poe 2 if you don't do physical damage you don't get mana leech for attacks at least to my knowledge. With physical damage this isn't so bad.

Secondly, now that persistent buffs like herald of ash, ice etc are tied to spirit and not mana and cost of attacks and totems are far greater than lets say in poe 1, even attack builds need to get pretty massive amounts of mana or mana regeneration in addition to accuracy. That just feels you need to jump over many more hurdles than spellcasters.

It gets even more problematic if your playing a melee character, but that's not the point of this ramble.

Wouldn't it be fair and more logical if spells could miss and spellcasters would have to get a stat like accuracy so their spells would have a greater chance to hit? Call it concentration or whatever, name isn't important.

All in all poe 2 is most likely gonna be a great game so keep up the good work GGG!

I see it as accuracy is needed to properly aim at the point of shooting, while magic is locked on the target at the moment you cast. Which makes sense because you command the magic with your mind, and your mind is fixed on the opponent. But with shooting you have to overcome your hand-eye coordination barrier.
But then again does it make sense if i use earthquake and the ground explodes under the monster and it can still miss, but a comet falling from the sky can't?

what if you get stunned or attacked before your spell reaches your target? should the spell just cease to exist since you might not be able to focus on the target anymore?
