Spark - Shotgunning or Shared Memory?
So, how does it work in PoE2?
1. Has every projectile its own hit-memory? Like: Projectile 1 hits and can't hit the same target anymore, but projectile 2 still can hit the target. 2. Do all projectiles save their hits in a shared memory? Like: projecitle 1 hits and therefore all the other projectiles can't hit anymore? 3. Is there no memory at all and projectiles can hit whenever they touch the target again? Would love some clarification here, because the description isn't very clear here. TL;DR
1.(sort of a hybrid 1 & 2) This is skill-dependent, for instance, Spark can theoretically hit the same target with all projectiles IF they manage to collide with said target's hitbox (although unlikely due to its design nature). Another that comes to mind is Explosive Shot(Crossbow skill) and any source of additional projectiles will hit the same target as they are fired in a serial sequence(similar to an assault rifle in auto), thus making it seem as if you're "shotgunning" the entity, yet in reality you're hitting with 1 round after the next in short burst rounds(similar to a semi-auto firearm). There are also the Fragment-type Shots for the crossbow weapon type that shoot multiple pellets(similar to a shotgun) and they can all hit the same target which will combine their individual damage into a single hit, the skill gems do mention this as a feature. If we follow the same philosophy from PoE 1, then a projectile cannot collide with the same hitbox twice unless stated elsewhere. Cheerios~ |

" So if I understand correctly: So pierce and increased duration on spark will probably not increase the dps against single targets like bosses, right? |

Pierce won't increase damage against single targets because the projectile already hit the target and cannot hit it again.
Increased Duration might increase damage against single targets because one of the several spark projectiles of the initial cast might eventually hit the target before its duration expires. I believe people prefer using any form of Projectile Speed to ensure more spark projectiles from the same initial cast end up hitting(or have a greater chance at hitting) the same target.
