CONFUSION between Resistance x Damage

One thing that most new players probably don't know is that monster damage in PoE does not consider 0% elemental defense as the standard damage... Monsters are balanced taking into account that you have 75% in all resistances. If you have 70%, you will already be taking more damage than intended. Therefore, if you have 0% defense of any element, you will be taking 75% more damage than you should be taking.

Sorry to be nitpicky, but 75% more damage is not quite accurate. It is 4 times as much, so 300% more.

For example:
100 fire damage with 75% fire resistance = 25 damage
100 fire damage with 0% fire resistance = 100 damage

Can someone tell me why environment damage doesn't seem to respect my resistances

You are correct, however I believe that even with this flaw, I believe it is possible to understand the idea about how resistance behaves.
