The mapping system in PoE2 is pretty engaging, but the way you handled deaths in them is pretty damn bad.
You build the game around playing together, interaction between auras and such, very nice.
Then your buddy gets oneshot due to something in a map (happens a lot) and now even tho you have 4 portals left, he cant rejoin and has to wait for you to fail or win it...
Like where is the fun in sitting around in camp waiting, not even being able to spectate?
You need to rethink the one death policy on mapping like RIGHT NOW, because if anything is killing the endgame, its the One Death and youre done deal.
We need to have a few chances to try to complete maps, just like we had in PoE1.
This is not hardcore league, this is not ironman mode, the game needs to be hard (which it kind of is) but i also needs to be fun.
Getting a few more attempts at a map is FUN, reset the boss health, do whatever, but let us attempt the maps several times and FFS let our buddies rejoin if we have portals up ok?

I really do not care about duo players.
In POE 1 party play, you had one portal per map anyway.
And yes, if you die you have to wait for the next map.
I support "casual" players, that want the 6 portals for their solo games.
But I do not support duo players.
Main reason - some idiots run 500+ magic find with cheap cheesy builds, and duo with a carry.
And I want them deleted from the game, together with Grave bind abuse, and I do not want them allowed back in the map.
This is borderline stupid.

Why can't the remaining player revive the dead one, as an example?

Because no one will invest in defense.
I have played builds in POE 1 that wipe out the entire screen and zoom though maps, and the only downside is that you die a lot.
But you do not give a crap about it, because the "down time" from deaths is next to nothing, compared to the "productivity" of the build.
I am talking about sitting on 1000+ deaths during the league, but getting multiple divines per hour.
The same goes for the XP penalty. This is the only thing that stops people from getting such builds to lvl 100 in the matter of hours...

In Poe1 you had 6 portals total, to use how you wished (if you or your buddy died you could just go back through again, dont know what PoE1 you were playing lol), its not a game agains eachother.
If you get more magic items on the market, prices tank, so more people can afford them.
You dont have to engage in that market either.
So your point about someone doing something better then you together, its void.

We have a saying, ill translate is somewhat:
"Next to the dry, the wet also burns".
You can be casuals, and I believe that you are casuals, and I really wish you the best.
But until this magic-find-party-play travesty of a gameplay is resolved, I do not see a situation that can benefit you, without making their abuse even more profitable.
Again, I have nothing against you two specific. It is that one mechanic, that makes me question the brain cells quantity that was involved when GGG took this balance decision.

Yeah thats a good point, or at least let them use up a portal to get back, as long as there is a person in the map alive and there are portals left.

What does is matter?
Do you lose profits or something if people do crazy MF builds and run together?
Like...do you lose out on real world money?
Prestige?
Why do you even care?

It actually is a game against each other.
Well not really "each other". You are playing against the top 1%.
You see, there are X good items and Y players, and X is always lower than Y.
And I want to remind you that stuff like Astramentis is now like quarter of the value of a mirror.
The 99% of the players wont see this item, and wont be able to afford it.
And during the league, it is not a fact that those 99% will get more access to the market. If anything, the settlers league showed that as the time progresses the best builds get more and more expensive.
